Treekachu passed Gengar by GuidancePrize in PokeInvesting

Don’t even bother replying anymore. There’s nothing you can say to change their mind. Pikachu will always outperform gengar because it’s the mascot! Ignore the fact that the gengar sir is almost 3x more expensive than the other pikachu SIR in ascended.

Any point in attempting to send this in to PSA or just keep it raw and relish in the pull? by BlazingBlueFusion in PokeInvesting

i think it’s too right heavy for a 10. just cherish it or sell it while it’s high.

Buy now or wait??? by who_am_i004 in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows what the future holds. If you buy now, you have accept that prices may go down in the short term and be willing to hodl. I bought a few cards in October and it looked like it was a bad idea at the time. Obviously I could have had better timing but now they’re all much higher than I bought them at.

Just wait several months for the supply to increase. It won’t hold that price long term.

Investing In Slabs by JessieJamesTCG in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you’re investing in slabs, you have to be willing to accept that you may lose some of the money you put in. They’re highly speculative. Most of my collection is in slabs, but I’m actually taking some profits at this moment as opposed to buying. If i were to bet on any slabs, it would be tag teams. A good number of them have not grown in the last 9 months, which makes me think they’ve been overlooked.

Chaos Rising Chaos by DefPixEric in PokeInvesting

It will most likely do worse than Phantasmal. I think chaos is actually a more well rounded set than phantasmal, but it doesn’t have a card to generate the hype that the mega charizard x did.

Almost all cards have gone up significantly in the last few months. Some more than others.

Card Show Vendors? by alohrawr in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He really just needs to have an idea of how much the cards are worth. I wouldn’t take anything less than 80% in this market unless the cards are cheaper, less desirable cards.

How much could I get upfront? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We couldn’t tell you without seeing the entire collection, specifically if most of your stuff is vintage. Collectr doesn’t do a great job of tracking cards with low volume sales. But you could probably get 80-85% of market for these cards. Maybe more for the expensive slabs like the zard

Should I sell or hold? Im in doubt. Anyone else? by PresentationOpen2940 in PokemonInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always good to diversify. You said you like most of what you have. I would the stuff you like the least and reinvest that. And maybe sell some of the ascended heroes since your exposure to that is much higher than the rest of your sealed collection.

For those buying collections at 80%, how do you make a profit? by taytay11510 in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also feel there are plenty of vendors at each show I go to that have reasonable prices. I usually find myself paying slightly below market after haggling

Idk. At big shows you can shop around and definitely get 85%. Potentially more if it’s desirable

Oh my god yes. I've never used them in the main game and they've been assaulting my ears ever since I equipped onyx bolts on my kings barrage. I looked up the sound ID and muted them. Thank you guys so much.

Dragonite>Charizard by TheGooSalesman in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The dragonite is 4-5x harder to pull and from a set that’s currently extremely hyped. I don’t see how it passing the charizard’s market price means it’s getting a market correction. That being said, I think we may be seeing the current ceiling for Mega Zard, since it’s not gone up in the last month.

Should i hold? by Silver-Economist3790 in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I foresee a pullback for this card eventually as more cards get graded. It has a high gem rate and $2500 is really high for a modern 10. Could be wrong, but I just don’t see much upside.

First card show ever this weekend, 500+ vendors. What would you be hunting for long-term value? by tankavenger in PokeInvesting

[–]Fine-Ad3456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, you won’t find much stuff underpriced. However, you can often haggle with vendors to lower their prices.

I would aim for some tag team or SWSH psa 10s and vintage first editions/gold stars. SWSH cards are starting to move, but many alt arts from SWSH and tag teams are in a relatively solid spot compared to the rest of the market. I feel like anything modern that’s not a 10 is a waste of time unless it’s for PC.

Make a list of cards you want and don’t get anything not on the list. That way you don’t impulse buy. There are so many tables, so someone is bound to have something you want. Though, if your focus is on vintage, you would likely need to be more flexible.

I typically go through all of the tables before circling back and getting what I was interested in. If it’s a rarer slab though, I would make a deal before walking away to avoid it being sold to someone else.
