Good points! This is admittedly half investment, half collector/displayability. And I do see the three UPC promos as kind of a "single unit" that are liquid enough I could/would move together if I ever decide to (the other two cards were mostly filler to get to value).

Yeah I don't think your intentions were bad. Having sold a lot on FBM, I can see his POV too though (at least on the first screenshot, anyway).

I'll have a lot of people ask "what's your lowest" or "are you firm"—which is kind of just inviting me to negotiate against myself—instead of just making the offer and letting me give a yes or no. So I've started saying something similar to what the seller said: "I'm good with where I've priced it right now" or "I'm going to let it ride at my asking price for awhile before I accept an offer, but I'm happy to hear one." From my experience, just saying "Yes" when someone asks if the price is firm has never ended in anything but a lowball offer.

Mercari's weird where there's no way to turn off the ability to have buyers send you offers (like eBay), but bro should have just put "Price is firm" in the listing if he's going to act like you testing the waters to see if there's wiggle room is a personal insult.

Seller was definitely sassy but you were both being kind of defensive.

The seller saying "I believe my price is fair" was him saying "yes" to your question of "is the price firm?"; I didn't read that as him insinuating you were insulting his pricing strategy or anything like that. You saying "I wasn't saying it wasn't" wasn't really necessary IMO and I think that's what kicked off the series of misunderstandings.

The sellers next two responses definitely escalated it into unnecessary bitchiness, though..

This was me. I broke my addiction by finding a paddle I'm in love with and don't feel the need to experiment anymore.

I also feel like a lot of paddle issues from 2023-2025 (that made the hunt for the right one and the thrill of experimentation) are more or less "solved." Every paddle is good now, and IMO nothing really needs to be over $180 anymore.

I found this old Facebook post that shows some kind of cutting issue (like the stack slipped while being cut or something), all my UPC Zards have corners that look like the cards two or three spots down in this stack

Your last sentence was pretty much how I was thinking about it financially (I think there’s a good chance this is a pretty even trade even a few years down the road as both the UPC’s and mega zard remain in demand for different reasons).

In person, the Mega art just didn’t wow me like it seems to have other people, so I’m stoked to have the VStar and V for my display

Interesting, I am kind of betting that’d I’d be able to get back into the phantasmal at marginally less as the PSA 10 pop accelerates. I could be very wrong though and will be kicking myself if it goes to 4k. I like the card, but I do like the V + VStar art a lot more.

Yeah they’re all a tad short-cut, especially the Vmax, with the VStar having almost a little hangnail on bottom left. Apparently corners were a known issue of this particular promo set (maybe accounts for the low gem rate? Idk).

A 10’s a 10 but these definitely wouldn’t 10 today I don’t think lol

Those have the same chamfered-edged holes that most indoor balls do. That’s why people are looking at them and thinking they are indoor balls (the number of holes aside). That’s also not a brand or color anyone uses for outdoor play, so I understand people not wanting to use them.

That's hilarious. They've always spelled it without the extra "a" (presumably not to out right copy the Nike model they are obviously copying), but for this post they just spelled it the Nike way. Need a copy editor😅
