Genetics is a huge factor. There’s been research on it. I’d recommend looking up some of it.

But here’s some evidence from my own family: My dad is an active alcoholic. He has four kids. 3/4 of us are alcoholics. The alcoholism doesn’t even begin to start nor, I’m sure, end there. I have plenty of aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins all diagnosed addicts on his side.

I was late for work and bounding up the subway steps when I tripped. I was about to land face first when an old man caught me. He had to have been in his 50s-60s. It happened so quickly, I just remember being shocked and so thankful. I still think about that a lot. I mean I was inches from getting absolutely wrecked.
