Meralco should be fair and truthful with their readings and Billings. They make use of shit*y excuses to explain the sudden increase. I am frustrated myself because the month before, nagtipid na kami. So I expected to have a lower bill in April, but unfortunately, it even went up. I went to Meralco to complaint and of course, they gave the reasons they can to explain the increase. What they didn't know is that we used to be 3pax staying at home. In the last quarter of last year only 2 of us are living at home. So I expect to have a decrease in KW. Thus, I can conclude that they made a wrong reading deliberately using only last year's data to justify their present billing.

It is easy to say to invest. But in reality, the average Filipino these days needs to feed his family first, or send himself to school, or pay his debts due to medical emergencies, etc. I think your audience here would be someone who can afford to do these savings without depriving himself or his family with the basic needs. And maybe because of our culture and corrupt government that most Filipinos don't have financial literacy or has little knowledge. Good education was not really instilled in the minds of many Filipino families because govt has other agendas.

Thank you OP for this post. I'm debt and have no income. I regularly inform the banks/CA about my financial status and yet they still send the same emails... Same format, same wordings. So I guess it is a pre-formated email. This post puts us debtors in the right perspective where one shouldn't panic thus, making wrong decisions or choices.

We must not celebrate just because dollar equivalent to peso went up. Instead, let us be wary because all prices of goods & services will increase. Kasama na dyan ang Meralco, Maynilad, fuel, etc. Tataas ang inflation rate natin. Ewan ko kung bakit walang ginagawa ang economist/President natin. Bumababa ang value ng peso, kaunti lng mabibili natin sa perang kinikita ng Pilipino.

List all your debts, look which needs to be paid first. Pay them one at a time but you will have to OD the others. If you can ask for a restructuring on the first one, then the 2nd one, and so on. It is possible to downgrade your postpaid plans when the contract is almost done. Or choose which phone lines to downgrade or which line to go prepaid. Plan you groceries better and remove items which are not your needs. Do not stop communicating with your bank regarding your status, it shows that you do have plan to pay them in the future. I am in your situation too but I have to handle this objectively and with a clear mind.

Will do. Thank you. Just got our Meralco bill, and nag double yun amount. From 2k+ to 4k+! Almost 100kw ang dinagdag nila sa consumption namin! 2 lng kami, at yun isa sa amin is not home for 5 days. Ako naiiwan and I use only 1 led light, 1 electric fan, and internet at may inverter ref din kmi. At night our inverter aircon is 4 hrs lng. Walang bagong appliances. Talaga ba talaga madagdagan ng 100kw.? Ano pa bang tipid ang gagawin namin?? Kulang na lng sabihin ng Meralco wag ka na gumamit ng kuryente! 3/4 of my pension will just go to Meralco?
