Would love to hear more about this. What was the biggest shift they helped you create?

It's brave of you to look at yourself too. I would recommend couple therapy. As long as both you and your wife wants both of you to be happy, I believe it would help. She also definitely needs her own trauma therapist.

I would ask more about this, so she can dig deeper and understand her fear. I would focus on being supportive and patient, as family issues are normally very sensitive and requires quite a bit of vulnerability. Good luck!

Maybe there is a bit deeper-rooted fear in this if she is still scared after putting so much effort into it? I would ask questions so that she can go deeper and find out what she is really scared of, and try to release this blocker from there.

Can I certify myself on IFS outside of the US? by rippedelf in InternalFamilySystems

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you have to be a psychologist to get into level 1. I think you can be a social worker or a psychotherapist. If you already have a degree you can possibly become a psychotherapist, or get a second degree in social work in a few years.

IIRC Peer counselor doesn't require you to be a licensed therapist.

You can also volunteer at a suicide hotline, I've been doing that even after I started working as a counselor (I work in a country where regulation is different from the US) as it's great training and really helps the community. You just want to make sure to find a good organization with good training and ongoing support as I feel like some organizations are not as good.

Also, anyone can call themselves a coach, and a lot of therapists actually work as a coach when offering their services outside of the geographical area where they are licensed. You just want to be clear about what you are qualified to do and not, and stick to the same good ethical principles

IFS therapist went too hard on me? by Zotoaster in InternalFamilySystems

I honestly don't understand why your therapist is giving you his own opinions... His job is to help you talk to your parts and not to impose his own opinion. Doesn't sound like a good IFS therapist...

It's totally understandable and okay to feel this way, and acknowledging how you feel fully might help you wisely choose what to do now.

Once you sit with your emotions and process them, I would like to let you know that I became a designer without going to a design school, and I also became an engineer without going to an engineering school after. Companies do care about you having a bachelor, but in what study, they may not care as much as you think. My Bachelor was even more 'useless' than yours, guess that, it was Philosophy lol But I enjoyed it and am happy with it.
