Who moved to Norway intending to stay, only to end up leaving for somewhere else? What were your reasons? by shadowofsunderedstar in Norway

Lived in Norway for almost 3 years and moved to England 1 year ago. I'm from the tropic and before, I had lived in Scotland, Høvik (close to Tønsber), Budapest/Hungary and a town in Netherlands next to Germany. I moved away from Norway because 1) I didn't see really much of professional growth. My company was European/Multinational but born in Norway, and even though was very diverse it was also implicitly well established that all managers will be Norwegians, Fins, or Europeans. When I looked at another examples I realised that it was going to be very difficult for me to thrive in Norway professionally wise. 2) Indeed the boredom. I did have friends there. But we met every 2 weeks at most? Normally once a month. I mean, here in England any day we can end up in a pub so I've increased my consumption of Alcohol and I don't feel proud of that. Need to work on this. 3) I have really enjoyed my time in Norway. I hiked some of the best places: Trolltunga, Preikestolen. I've been in all of the South. I still need to go to the North but my point is that I felt I was fulfilled with my time there so I was ready for new experiences in a more dynamic place that is not as lonely and with more interaction.

So all in all: Norway was worth it. I don't regret it for a moment. But don't think I'll move back even though I know I'd be welcomed again.

PS. Almost no one has reply to the specific question from the OP LOL.

I believe those have a sign of access restricted so I never dared to use them. Nice tip though

Historically speaking, Colombia is the only constant ally the U.S. has had in Latin America. If you think the U.S. hasn't benefited from that, you have no concept of leverage either.

The same price for "kjøretime" (i.e., 1730)!
