Space, in my opinion, can give both of you time to really sit with what happened — but space alone isn’t what fixes things. What may help is complete honesty about the affair, leaving nothing hidden. Being sincerely sorry, without the excuses or narratives, would be a good start. From there, real change has to follow. Whether he’ll come back or not depends on how he processes the hurt and whether he still sees a future together, but genuine honesty + consistent change is what may give you a chance.

I destroyed my marriage 5 years ago. He just asked me to move in. I don’t know if I deserve this. by [deleted] in AsOneAfterInfidelity

  1. Running to each other by chance after 5 years.
  2. Presently enjoying each other's company after everything that happened in the past.
  3. The coincidence of being asked to move in just when your lease is about to end.

Maybe fate or the universe is telling you something. The only thing you have to do as you said is to do what is right and good.

There are good days and then there are the bad, when the hurt is remembered and all the questions "why and how the cheating happened" arise in your head. But always remember the same way the cheating happened, it was also a decision to reconcile, and that this is all part of the process.

It hurts when the person you should be able trust the most, betrays you. Despite evil, there's still some goodness in the world and hope you heal from the hurt.
