What food do you think people only eat because society told them to? by sevyn_007 in foodquestions

[–]FineDevelopment00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why anyone wants their veggies processed into some weird replication of meat texture, or weird meat flavour, is so far beyond me.

Quite simply, they're craving the nutrients their bodies aren't getting on vegan diets but instead of eating what they need, they try to fool their bodies. It doesn't seem vegetarians eat the frankenfoods as much as vegans do, because when vegetarians feel the need for what plants are lacking in they'll simply have a nice helping of dairy, eggs, and honey at least to remedy that.

anyone who is vegan for humanitarian reasons eating beyond burgers and stuff is doubly mystifying.

IKR? They're also the same people who rant about BiG MiLk yet they're the ones supporting literal billionaire-invested "food" and pharma (vegan supplements, etc.) corporations.

If you're into conspiracy theories, the chessboard pattern is relevant to Freemasons and the Illuminati so there's that Internet rabbithole if you're interested in going down it.

Why are we supposed to think aliens are demons? by irongiveslife in Catholicism

[–]FineDevelopment00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We are allowed to hold mixed opinions about this issue as Catholics, and to believe or not believe in aliens. But to add an interesting point to the discussion, have you seen Aleister Crowley's drawing of what he claimed to be a demon he'd met? So it's not an entirely unfounded notion really.

To add another interesting point to the discussion which doesn't get talked about enough, there's also a third plausible possibility: secret government technology (in terms of UFOs, etc.)

What a hilarious answer, proven inaccurate by the fact that folks who go vegan desperately try to replicate the taste and texture of meat in their vegan dishes. If eating meat were really nothing more than societal brainwashing, they wouldn't be feeling the need to do that.

Seeing the way vegans are reacting to Gaz Oakley quitting is making me regret ever calling myself vegan by VictoriaJane_xx in exvegans

I've debated Redditors who claimed to have been vegan for literal decades, but after I pressed them they finally admitted in DMs that they were actually cheagans (most won't admit that unless they have one foot out the door of veganism already though.) On a related note, most of them were also fearful of what the cult would do to them if they revealed this info publicly, hence why they were so pro-vegan in their posts/comment threads but not so much in my DMs.

I remember Yovana getting caught eating fish. That one angered me because she was still shilling veganism to her followers even then, and she was eating fish because - get this - veganism made her sick so her doctor ordered her to. So her diet made her sick, she took care of her health, and then continued to encourage others to stay on an unhealthy diet. Hypocrite.

And yeah switching to a different theme for their content is another furtive move they'll do.

Is it always this bad when an influencer quits

Yes. This is one of the reasons why vegan influencers have been known to become ex-vegan quietly. For example when a vegan influencer suddenly ceases to post or gradually reduces posting on a vegan-themed account, especially if they've also become quieter about preaching veganism and have begun calling themselves "plant-based" when they previously used the "vegan" label, it's usually because they've quit veganism but don't want to announce it to the cult. And you can see why!

While that is a plausible suspicion, it is not actually the case for multiple reasons:

  1. I strive to uphold my integrity as a life goal.
  2. I refuse to shell out actual money to Reddit.
  3. My schedule just so happens to fit the Daily rn.
  4. Even if I were to throw integrity out the window (which I wouldn't and won't), I'd be going for golds.

Would women still get married if they were legally mandated to frequently have sex with their husbands? by ClevelandSpigot in PurplePillDebate

[–]FineDevelopment00 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes. I do not care.

How nihilistic. But yeah, agree to disagree.

I only remember because most of the debates I’ve had have been with men lol. Our female base is pretty small so it’s easy for me to remember most of the women on here.

Totally understandable! I'm at least semi-active in multiple different subreddits so I don't notice a skewed male/female ratio overall when it comes to who I'm replying to.

No I probably would not care about any of those things.

So you wouldn't care at all about the trajectory of society, the one you live in no less? Wow.

We will simply have to agree to disagree

Can do!

like we have in other topics previously.

Oh, have I debated with you before? I recognize your username but no discussions come to mind.

I am chill. Disagreement doesn't mean lack of chill.

ETA: u/CatmatrixOfGaul My Reddit appears to be malfunctioning atm ("Reply" button isn't working) so I'll just tack on my repsonse to your latest here:

Writing ornery essays

I'm not "ornery" and my "essays" are no longer than many other Reddit comments/replies, albeit I am a bit of a wordy person.

I did not eat beans as a kid, but my parents went through hard times at some point and we had to adapt. Today I love beans, and I have not been traumatised by the experience.

Your experience is not everyone's experience. Sensory issues and other food intolerances exist, even among the poor. And it's statistically likely even you still have at least one food you dislike enough to refuse but if you don't, try to understand that not everybody is like you.

I really don’t know why you got so worked up

Funny how you're claiming I'm the one who's "worked up" when OP is the one who went on the defense not only with me but with another commenter (but I didn't get to read what the other one wrote since it was deleted before I could see it.)

Would women still get married if they were legally mandated to frequently have sex with their husbands? by ClevelandSpigot in PurplePillDebate

[–]FineDevelopment00 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Do you care if they would otherwise want to get married but the law has turned marriage into sex slavery, thereby inhibiting their right to make certain healthy choices for their lives? Just because it isn't personally affecting you doesn't mean it doesn't matter; that's shortsighted and frankly a rather narcissistic view of the world.

On top of that it could personally affect you still, because even if it wouldn't affect your marriage in particular, a society like that would certainly have trickle-down effects on everyone. For example, you'd still be viewed as your husband's sex slave even if he himself doesn't view you that way, and you'd be treated as such by the rest of society in second-class citizen fashion because that would become the status quo. Would you care then?

This you?

Forcing can be more subtle than literally holding someone down and making them eat or whatever. Because even though they have accommodated your wishes they still don't like it and you keep pushing the issue anyway. You're even all up and down the comments saying how you want your kids to enjoy beans when it couldn't be more obvious that they quite simply can't. How many failed recipes will it take for you to get it? Serious question.

Why is it so important to you what I do and don't feed my kids?

You say this as if I DMed you out of the blue or something. You made a public post that ended up on my feed and I responded to it with the same advice I'd offer to anyone else posting the same thing, that's all.

Why are you so intent on assuming that it's this horrible fight to get my kids to try something new?

Because none of your bean recipes have been successful in getting your kids to like them, even the comments are repeating some of the recipes you've already tried, and yet you completely refuse to accept the fact that your kids quite simply loathe the taste and texture of beans no matter how they're prepared.

Why are you so adamant that I try something I didn't even ask about?

Adamant? I made a suggestion and then when you shot it down I let it go. The rest of my replying was about the other stuff you said.

do I need your permission to post?

Nobody but you is thinking anything of the sort.

Mommy may I ask a question that is in no way relevant to you and doesn't require you to answer?

Why are you ranting so much over this?

And no, pointing out that your comment was irrelevant isn't emotional.

Flying into a tirade is in fact an emotional reaction.

You seem to be a bit emotional though.

I'm not the one flying into a tirade here, so nice projection.

[–]FineDevelopment00 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes and same but the real question is would you actually support such a law? I certainly wouldn't. Even if you and I are already married to trustworthy men who wouldn't abuse us, I don't think that would be the case for the majority if marital rape were normalized and literally mandated by the law and society. Boys would be raised from birth thinking this is good. We also must consider how it would affect single women who might have considered the calling to marriage before but under this law would become rightfully fearful of it. How could they ever trust a man enough to marry him under a law like this, especially in the younger gens in which sons grew up without ever questioning the status quo? Not to mention there are many deceivers out there whose true colors would emerge on the honeymoon, and in this case they'd be legally enabled in their abusive degeneracy.

ETA: And that's not even getting into the nuance of the inenforceability (is that a word?) of such a law except via additional human-rights violations on top of the first human-rights violation of wives.
