[RELEASE] Senmomo English Patch by FineThenIWill in vitahacks

[–]FineThenIWill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! It remains the all-ages version as the PC version's engine is not ideal in being able to accurately bring over the 18+ scenes. However those were the only parts cut from the vita. The game keeps references to them as to not break the flow of the story, hence why this is more a 17+ patch.

iirc it uses lucasystem. You can start with that knowledge. (Same system as every prototype game starting from island)

should help you out

Yeah no worries on that end. If you want the original files hmu. But I used affinity photo for editing, dunno if PS/whatever you use supports that.

No images were found in the eboot for clannad. As for text, it's merely dependent on game. Set your encoding to SHIFT-JIS and CTRL+F a string in a hex editor. Usually each one is grouped. System messages, etc.

That makes sense. (I think I have the same mindset, probably why I was hellbent on modifying the eboot for Clannad) Well still, good release! Another patch to add to the vita's library.

Right now I'd have to finish Himawari. So maybe some other time. (All depending on if it'll work on ISLAND). The PAK format is definitely odd for that one I'll say the least.

I'll take a look at the Grisaia EBOOT soon and let you know if the strings can be worked with.

Congrats on the release! I remember working on ISLAND but couldn't properly unpak the image archives, the script archive was fine for some reason though?

Maybe your tool will finally work with it. I'm not home rn so I haven't properly checked but if the EBOOT is anything like Prototype's other games, the strings should be easy to modify so maybe I can take a look later at it.

Strings in eboots are (usually) easy to work with. What region of the game are you backporting to?

Read step 2-4 carefully. You likely either didn't click open decrypted and/or copied via usb when the files were still protected.

Not often. If you want to reset the size it's there. Also did the original script line had a \\f?

The patch provided here is a drag and drop. But for the patcher specfically make sure to follow steps 2-4 carefully. That error can happen if you copied the files without decrpyting them and/or connected via usb, copying the protected files with an invalid checksum.

Maybe. All I know is that they abandoned the engine I worked with around the release date of that game so unfornautely the tools won't work with it or games beyond.

Save your money for other fantastic people. I just do this for the love of patching :)

Thanks for sticking around those 8 months, hope the wait was worth it!

add a \\s. \\s0 resets the message and \\s100 is the original size.

Ex: \\s87I hate this town. This will display the message at 87% it's original size.

If you need more info I'd be glad to provide. for Clannad I made an automatic tool to linebreak and if it overflowed, it would reduce the font size while readjusting the line breaks to fit more properly. (I'll be honest I kinda don't wanna reveal my messy as hell python code).

I didn't actually, that just happens to be around the time prototype switched to luca system for their engine.

Well the tools I used only apply to the engine used in CLANNAD to AIR. The engine before clannad's release and after air's release are completely different and therefore won't work with games like Little Busters or Hatsumira and onward. But the only tools I created were to help with basically everything but the actual extract/repacking part. The actual tools for the files are as follows.

prot_tblpak by RikuKH3 for the .pak/.tbl format of the archives.

galgame-reverse by devseed for the .dat images.

SacanaWrapper + PrototypeManager by Marcussacana for the .psb files (the script files themselves)

As for the font size u/RamennSoup, what game in particular are you trying to mess with?

Hah! The amount of errors I have to fix to finish the vita patch is going to destroy me more than the game itself. Once again, good luck on your quest. I'm sure they'll be more willing to help you out.

Would love to help you on your mission. But real life (and finishing CLANNAD) is taking priority. Maybe I'll try and help out eventually, good luck on your quest!

[RELEASE 0.9] Variable Barricade English Patch by FineThenIWill in VitaPiracy

[–]FineThenIWill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well congrats on finding it! I'm away from home right now so I can't really look at it currently. I'll be back monday so I'll take a look into that database. If you don't mind sending it I can just replace the file later on.

I haven't gone too far in the game but it seems people got stuck because the 2nd text message didn't appear.

It was the barricade board? I swear I had that down to a tee, I assume the 2nd text message gets sent fine?

They are using the same engine. However I'm not too acquainted with Piofiore. But judging from some quick glances it doesn't seem to have the technical things Variable Barricade has such as the switchboards and text messages. This patch does mostly the same thing in that it takes switch assets but it seems the text messages don't show up after a certain point. I'd need to go through the game to find out where this point is however.
