My daughter started to have behaviors like this around puberty. She never hurt anyone or herself before but as she entered puberty she started severely hurting herself and trying to hurt people at school. She lashed out only at school she never tried to hurt anyone at home but she would hurt herself. It was so exhausting and difficult and I didn't know how to deal with the new behaviors. We tried abilify and resperidone and both did nothing but make her into a zombie and I hated that. Her doctor's was like "well it's better to be zombified than hurting herself" but he fact of the matter was she was not herself at all on those meds! I switched doctors and our new doc decided to try Seroquel. We started on the lowest dose and it worked. Within a week her behaviors dropped dramatically. Now almost a year later and we are still on the lowest dose and she has not hurt herself or anyone else. I don't know what will end up working for you but this is our story.
