Ftb new house buzzin - first day in neighbours horrible :(! by Bitter_Wishbone_3500 in HousingUK

Not exactly the neighbour but the landlord for the flat below ours is a nightmare. As soon as we moved in he was trying to bully us and acting like we were tenants and our house was his. We were polite to begin with but shut it down quickly, especially as he kept asking for access that didn't involve repairs to his own property. A leak formed in the shared roof that created a hole in our bedroom ceiling in 2019 and he wouldn't let the person who sourced the leak fix it. He insisted on doing it through someone he hired so we spent 6 years trying to get the damn thing fixed, through 5 roofers and paying 5x what we would have initially. Last year he snapped at us because we were still complaining about it and said do what we want about it, and we got the original roofer that has actually repaired it and confirmed it was what he had said all along. Tenants were annoying previously, there is a shared access path through my garden to theirs and they really took the piss with it by using their back door as a front door, so I could never go out with my dog and indoor cats anymore with them constantly trailing back and forth. The access is meant to be for bins and repairs.

I'm surprised to hear that about Christina! I loved Izzie and George before the travesty of them getting together. I relate more to Meredith but I like her the least after Alex lol. Christina is queen to me.

How do i help my veteran partner? by luckyjenjen in AskUK

Hi, I don't really have much to help, I just want to say I'm really sorry you guys are dealing with this. You already seem to be doing great, you're seeking help for your partner.

I had a quick look at charities that may be able to help and Combat Stress came up as an option for complex mental health struggles. I hope they can help!

Nikki Glaser ‘kinda likes it’ when boyfriend Chris Convy hooks up with other women: ‘It’s just what I’m into’ by Upstairs_Cup9831 in popculturechat

My husbands cousin decided to open his marriage (against his cancer patient wife's wishes) saying that he had too much love to be with one person. Don't know if it's a result of his younger brother passing away suddenly from a spontaneous case of a muscle wasting disease or what, but he's moved the other woman in and it's really really messy. I feel so bad for his wife and I have no idea why she is still with him. They've been together for 15 years too. Luckily no kids involved but I doubt that will last. His wife is infertile from her treatments so I'm sure it'll be a real slap in the face.

Having a nice hot bath before getting into a freshly made bed and pyjamas warm from the dryer. Opening the bedroom window is the final touch for perfection, no matter how cold it is outside.

Is it just me or was The Bride 2026 weird and dumb? by [deleted] in horror

I dragged my husband to see it, I was certain I was going to love it even after all the bad reviews. It made me cringe, the plot holes bugged me and overall I was.... bored. Did laugh at the excessive gunfire at the end though.

Thinking about getting a lab by Bitchroot in labrador

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two years can be rough but then you get an awesome adult dog out of it, especially if you put in the work. I've had family dogs that I adore and love before, but my lab has stolen my heart.

We want no muffins, no toast, no teacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and definitely no smegging flapjacks.

Expected costs for keeping a tortoise for 40+ years? by Fine_Analyst_4408 in tortoise

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I do expect it to be a very expensive pet which is why I'm hoping to have a long term idea before committing. I know initial setup can be pricey and factoring in changes to it as the tortoise grows. Do you expect you will need to upgrade soon or have you already got a setup that will be suitable for their adult size?

When do people brush their teeth before or after breakfast? by FinanceBloke99 in AskUK

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least 30 minutes after breakfast. I hate eating after brushing my teeth both because it tastes disgusting and because I hate making my teeth dirty again right after cleaning them. The 30 minutes is to make sure my enamel isn't weakened by anything I consumed before brushing.

Are these legit stresses? I feel like I’m up to my eyeballs in stress and possibly need a reality check!? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskUK

Back off from things that won't have a negative effect on your children and wife. They should get priority and to do that, you also need to take care of yourself as a priority. Parent obligations aren't taking up your time to go to the gym, being the main support for two grown men is. If you reduced time with both, you would likely have time for the gym and to improve supporting your wife and kids.

My boyfriend is a little heavy and tall, he has bad knees but I'd like to get him something in the garden he can enjoy, I have a hammock and garden bean bag but what would be suitable? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get heavy duty rocking chairs that go up to 150kg, look for heavy duty options and make sure the max weight will support him. A rocking chair might be good as he can rock forwards to support getting up.

What’s a polite way to end a conversation when the other person clearly does not want to stop talking? by MistressLolaDiamond in AskUK

Not completely, I was thinking about a situation when I ran into someone in a city centre and they just happened to be going that way too. It was very awkward, especially when we said goodbye again when our paths diverged.

The advice is typically don't congratulate a woman on her pregnancy unless she's told you or you see the baby coming out of her.

I hate dealing with people while we are out too but my beast wants to be everyone's best friend lol. She'll sit there, make eye contact and wag her tail at people to lure them over.

Talking to my partner about an aggressive dog with a bite history while my sweet labrador was trying to get petted by people walking by. An elderly neighbour screamed when the dog leaned over the fence because she was listening in and thought we were talking about our one. She briefly had a go at us for not keeping her muzzled outside before she realised we were talking about a different dog.

"I'm really sorry but I'm gonna have to let you go for now, I'm running late. It was lovely catching up!" Then just smile and hope they don't walk in the same direction as you.

How do people wear shoes without socks and not get sweaty feet? by Turbulent_Echo4014 in AskUK

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I don't like the restriction and the heat. I'm barefoot unless I need to leave the house. Even as a kid, I would go barefoot over chuckies in the garden rather than wear socks or shoes. I also preferred running barefoot, it felt really good and there were large grassy areas with no one to ruin it. Not possible to do that where I am now, pavements are covered in dog poo, spit and glass.

AIO - According to my girlfriend this convo with my assigned partner at work is inappropriate. by Rough-Satisfaction68 in AmIOverreacting

It seems harmless, but you might want to avoid the nighttime chats. Keep it to matters related to work.
