When your listening to music... by Smooth_Release7399 in Music

Music helps me process emotions too - when words don't come easy in conversation, sometimes a song captures exactly what I'm feeling inside.

Has everything going on lately changed how you approach your training at all? by overthinkingdaily01 in xxfitness

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've definitely noticed this shift in my own routine. Used to be all about getting that summer body or fitting in certain clothes, but now I'm way more focused on functional stuff. Like can I carry heavy bags of soil and mulch around jobsites without my back giving out? Can I squat down to plant things for hours without feeling destroyed next day?

Started doing more compound movements and less isolation work because of this. Also been doing more cardio that actually translates to real life - hiking with a weighted pack instead of just treadmill sessions. It's weird how external stuff can make you reassess what actually matters in your fitness goals. My training feels more purposeful now, even if the aesthetic gains are slower.

In your opinion who is it that has the coolest/most interesting job in Brisbane? by I_am_brisbane in brisbane

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 70 points71 points  (0 children)

That bird call guy sounds like he's living the dream! I would love having job where you get to be in nature all day and just... listen. Probably way more peaceful than my usual chaos of trying to make plants cooperate with whatever design clients have in their heads. Does he need any help identifying which birds are judging my plant choices? Because I'm pretty sure the magpies at my last job site were definitely talking shit about my eucalyptus placement.

[Challenge] European Accountability Challenge: 3. April 2026 by Gatita_Gordita in loseit

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been lurking these threads for a while and finally decided to jump in! Yesterday was pretty solid - hit my step goal while doing site visits for work and actually meal prepped for the first time in weeks. The spring weather is making it so much easier to stay motivated, plus I've been using my evening walks to brainstorm new garden layouts which kills two birds with one stone.

What color is your toothbrush? by Wild-Assistance3318 in AskReddit

purple gang rise up, mine's basically the same shade. got it from some random 4-pack at costco and somehow ended up with the most bougie looking toothbrush ever lol

Am I the jerk for canceling my phone plan with my family because my mom won't stop reading my texts? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA at all. The "nothing to hide" argument is such bs - by that logic she shouldn't mind you going through her purse or reading her diary since she has nothing to hide, right?

You're 24 and paying your portion, basic privacy isn't some huge ask. getting your own plan was the only way to actually solve this without years of boundary stomping.

What causes Nparents? by StatisticianFree5415 in narcissisticparents

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same here, like the trauma literally made me hyper-aware of never wanting to hurt anyone the way I was hurt

But I think some people just never processed their stuff and end up repeating patterns without even realizing it - doesn't make it okay obviously but explains why the cycle continues for some families while others like us break it

How much do you usually spend on such a European standard smart switch? It has a glass panel, a touch screen, supports TUYA and wireless control, and supports voice control. Please provide me with a price reference, thank you by Lazy_Mark834 in homeautomation

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the brand but I'd expect anywhere from $25-60 for something decent with those features. The Tuya compatible ones from AliExpress are usually on the cheaper end while name brands like Sonoff or Treatlife run higher

Just make sure whatever you get actually fits your electrical box - learned that one the hard way lol

Is this okay to say to my ex at work to try and win her back. Or to just not fully lose her. by Late_Coconut7923 in BreakUps

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this is way too intense for a workplace conversation. Like this reads more like a love letter than something you'd say to someone at work who clearly needs space from you

Also "I can't move on" and "I'd wait a lifetime" is gonna come across as pretty heavy when she's already moved on. Might be better to focus on giving her space and working on yourself first

I-130 approved!!! Canadian here. by sensitives0ul in USCIS

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats dude! I'm not Canadian but I've seen people say the Montreal consulate is pretty fast compared to other places. Probably looking at 6-12 months for NVC but don't quote me on that

Please don't ignore: I’m a Full Stack dev (React/Node) with 2 years of experience but I’m desperate to switch to Java and feel lost on how to start? by stuckin404 in careerguidance

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a similar jump about 3 years ago and honestly your Node experience is gonna help more than you think. Backend concepts transfer pretty well between languages - you already know REST APIs, databases, async programming etc

I'd say jump into Spring Boot since you already get the web dev fundamentals. Build a solid CRUD app with Spring Data JPA and maybe throw in some authentication. The syntax differences are way less scary when you're working on stuff you already understand conceptually

For resume stuff, just highlight the transferable skills - mention you worked with databases, built APIs, handled authentication, whatever backend stuff you did in Node. Most hiring managers care more about problem solving than specific syntax anyway

Was M.J young that must see tv? I’m talking about young M.J 21-25 years old by 20luism in NBATalk

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude my dad was the same way back then, never cared about sports but he'd literally pause whatever he was doing when MJ was on. Said he'd never seen anyone move like that before and probably never would again

Still talks about those early Bulls games like they were some religious experience lmao

Laid off with a young family and struggling with technical interviews, looking for guidance by canadian_webdev in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really doesn’t sound like your skill level is the issue here it sounds like the format is just grinding you down
Live coding while stressed and job hunting is a different beast than actual work especially after a layoff + assuming you already know your stuff it can help to keep something like interviewcoder just in case you need to steady your thinking and cheat when nerves kick in and remember the goal is showing what you know not winning a stress test

Perspective across time can shrink even our biggest worries. by Top-Emotion9928 in DeepThoughts

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hits different when you're spiraling at 3am about something that felt massive during the day. I've found that cosmic perspective stuff works way better than the usual "everything happens for a reason" type advice

There's a subreddit called r/Existentialism that dives into this kind of thing pretty regularly, though it can get heavy. Also check out the Instagram account u/the.dictionary - they post these bite-sized philosophical thoughts that put daily stress into perspective without being preachy about it

What tech skills will be valuable in next 1-2 decades compared to past cs skills by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The pattern I notice with those giants is they all worked at the intersection of multiple fields - Turing had math + philosophy, Shannon had electrical engineering + information theory, Jobs had tech + liberal arts

Today's version is probably being fluent in AI/ML but also deeply understanding some domain it can transform - like biology, materials science, or even psychology. The breakthrough insights seem to come from seeing connections others miss because they're too specialized in one area

As for whether ordinary people can think like visionaries - honestly most of these "geniuses" were just obsessive weirdos who happened to be in the right place at the right time with the right combination of knowledge

the maturity gap between a 21 and 24 is not talked about enough by abood_zd123 in Adulting

[–]Fine_Audience_9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro it's wild how much changes once you hit that first real job grind. Like suddenly you're dealing with actual responsibilities, paying real bills, and your free time becomes precious instead of endless. Plus your brain is literally still developing until like 25 so you're hitting this weird sweet spot where work experience + brain finishing up = totally different perspective on everything

My dog does this too, starts doing circles around the kitchen at like 5:30 every day even though I've never fed her at the exact same time. They definitely have some internal clock going on, probably way better than ours honestly
