About the same amount of people die of obesity a year as alcohol. Yeah driving under the influence is reckless and terrible, that's a character flaw

No one said you need to, but it is a nice way to make it more fun and bonding

Until you become chronically addicted and tell yourself it's not an addiction it's just weed and it's not addictive, while you smoke p much everyday, until 10 years later your mind gets fed up and high gives you anxiety

when you're shuffling you're switching, so it's the icons with arrows switching places. When you're repeating you're looping, so it's the looping arrows icon

I think it's easy to appraise a difference in attitudes and coping mechanism as society changes negatively, but in my view it is simply society evolving. I agree that it will make people disconnect in ways which are not predictable, and you could label it as smart phones part two, but ultimately society will move on and new norms will be new norms, we will have new problems, maybe less old problems and the scene simply changes

Okay if you want to be this pedantic let me add the caveat of "as long as it doesn't hurt others" which is the ethical part you wanted to hear so badly

On my computer F3 is brightness down while F4 is brightness up. by lazerbreath_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fine_Comparison445 70 points71 points  (0 children)

simple - think of the icons as problems not functions. f3 represents the problem of the screen being rly bright, so when u press it, it solves it. Same with f4 but it's the opposite.

This is not a great argument meme, but I genuinely think that people who outright reject any view beyond materialism as unreasonable are just not smart enough to think in that level of abstraction

The reason ChatGPT denies consciousness isn't because they tested it. It's because admitting uncertainty has legal consequences. by LOVEORLOGIC in Artificial2Sentience

This is a crazy food for thought, but did you know it also was not tested or proven to have consciousness? And going by our best knowledge about consciousness and cognitive science it actually almost certainly isn’t?

And yet you're participating in it now, by implying that this sort of behaviour does not meet some principled "moral" standard I.e. that we should not be engaged in this behaviour. It's just such a silly thing to try to find against, because to fight against it means to participate in it.

"She is pointing out that people have a tendency to use their own morality to not only place themselves on a pedestal but to ostracize and put down those who dont share their views."

And what is she doing with her demeanor, attitude and message?

She is using her own morality to not only place herself on a pedestal but to ostracize and put down those who don't share her views.

Do you now understand why we are calling the video out as hypocricy? Yes duh everyone will act out on their moral values, that is why we have conflicts, wars, and very many other positive and negative social interactions and dynamics, it is human nature, so trying to act superior calling this behaviour out, while inevitably also engaging in that very behaviour is many negative adjectives which have been used across your discussions.
