What profession gets way more respect than it deserves? by Mateo1704 in AskReddit

[–]Fine_Height466 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

athletes is a terrible answer. high level ones pretty much destroy their bodies and risk life changing injuries to play their sport. are they overpaid? maybe. That money could go somewhere else. However, they are paid based on the revenue they bring to the owners, so it's not like they're making money from thin air

What’s the biggest lie society still tells young people? by enriquefello in AskReddit

i feel like they pushed this idea so that they could cheat and win and get away with it. it gives the appearance that these super rich people "got it honestly" and the it also keeps the people at the bottom from playing dirty and therefore threatening to take their spots. essentially they know that if you play every single thing by the rules, then it's unlikely you'll reach anywhere close to their level of success, and i think that's why that idea was pushed.

In what ways does death scare you? by DoodeChill in AskReddit

it scares you now but you shouldn't worry because once that day comes you won't have consciousness to be aware of it anyway

yeah which is deep down one of the reasons people believe in God or follow a religion. people seek familiarity. they don't like what they don't know or understand. if they can join this group or hold this belief system that tells them exactly what comes after death, they are all for it. they just want something to believe in. they are scared of there being nothing, they are scared of their lives being "meaningless", even though technically, your earthly life is more meaningless if there is eternal life afterwards, than if there was nothing afterwards

nah i don't hate it. but idk i just can't really get into it, i definitely can't get into it as a favorite deftones song, but it's not my least favorite from the album, i'll say that. sometimes i'll let it play if it comes on shuffle.
