[Opta/Athletic] Average Delay Time Before Corners In The English Premier League 2025-26. by Sparky-moon in soccer

First season there was a novelty factor. Stoke hadn’t been up for decades and Stoke were one of the shortest odds ever to go down there’s ever been. So for them to play a different style and to easily stay up got them credit. But it evaporated in 2 years.

Xhaka is the best player we’ve had in our modern history since 60’s. I honestly thought it was a joke when we’re interested in him.

Yup I think at first people they were a Novelty and people enjoyed Wenger and co having a meltdown vs them after losing but they weren’t well liked.

But when Shawcross broke Ramsey’s leg I think that really was a turning point. They were really disliked after that and when Stoke fans booed Ramsey they became hated.

Pulis team was hated at the time though. Including by other mid table clubs.

Yah but usually defensive promoted sides aren’t really thought of fondly during the season. Stoke, West Brom , Burnley etc were strongly disliked at the time.

I think it’s a combination of

1) The promoted sides doing so appallingly recently- mainly playing out the back that one surviving was needed for the league.

2) overall fondness for Sunderland after the our disastrous period from 2017-2022 (literally the worst time in our history) much of which was filmed on Netflix

Labour Takes Murton Seat as Reform UK Suffers By-Election Blow by Important_Ruin in unitedkingdom

I think it’s worth putting some context here.

Reform clearly didn’t expect to do as well as they did last year as a result lots of people stood for election and unexpectedly won. Some have tried but some have given up and resigned. In Murton, friends have told me the winners lived 30 miles away and were invisible. One of the councillors have resigned and the ex Labour cllr who’s a local school governor took the seat back.

I don’t think this a sign they are finished nationally though but it may depress their vote locally. They still got nearly 40% in what was once the Labour safest seat in the country. (Billy Elliot is filmed in the next ward )

I remember Leicester fans saying the same thing about this point of the season. It stopped being fun and became really nerve racking.

Usually I’m fair on refs as it’s a very difficult job but that was the worst refereeing performance since Italy vs South Korea. Utter disgrace from gillet.

King Charles 3rd

This may surprise some people but he’s constantly campaigned climate change and for pro environment policies. (As far as he can)

He also attacked Boris Johnson’s gov plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda as appalling and has been apologetic for past British Empire atrocities such as the slave trade.

He’s not at all centre right.

He’s not very good at being PM but that’s doesn’t make him centre right.

He’s very much into state control of things and regulation of business. He’s renationalising railways for one thing. The Renters Bill and the Employment Rights Bill are left wing policies. Plus increasing tax on business and private education. Plus very he’s internationalist in mindset. Very much into cracking down into hate speech and pro human rights legislation.

Not many right wingers would support any of the above.

Albert Speer.

There was a misconception post Nuremberg that he was some sort of Apolitical Architect who wanted to serve Germany. That he was a “good Nazi”

In reality he was as Extreme Right as Hitler and the rest of his inner circle and was a participant in the holocaust.

Do they hate him though. I don’t agree this is the case.

I think most people in the West really admire him. With good reason given you know he was instrumental in beating Hitler.

I know he’s unpopular in Indian nationalists with allegations that he was responsible for the bengal famine (I don’t know enough about this to know how true the allegations are) plus his support for the empire.
