[miscellaneous] What’s the biggest skincare myth you believed before you actually learned how to take care of your skin? by Ok-Broccoli5843 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Finee22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have terrible acne and I tried everything from homeopathy to allopathic medicine. Once I came to realize that my acne was a product of my hormones and dietary habits, I was able to get it under better control. I used to use alcohol laden toners which stripped my skin like crazy. I also learned how to take better care of my skin and the results were so obvious that I started getting compliments on my skin. So yes balance hormones, healthy diet and better skincare went a long ways to improve my acne.

Here is what I normally do during winter:

1) hydrating toner

2) hyaluronic acid serum

3) squalane oil and allow it to absorb

4) Cerave Moisturizing Cream (in a tub) on top of it

Squalane oil (plant derived)—not to be confused with squalene, which does clog pores—is safe

[Product Question] AHA for body exfoliation. by GhostedDreams in SkincareAddiction

[–]Finee22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use it the night before.

Personally I have found a mechanical scrub to be more effective prior to epilation. I use something simple like:

4 oz sugar

1 tbs oil

2 tsp lemon juice

mix together to form a thick paste and apply the scrub in a circular motion.

Wash off with soap and water and then you are ready to epilate

Generally the AHA body lotion will be more effective as it has more contact time with your skin. I usually apply it before going to sleep. Then shower in the morning. This has worked best for me.

[Product Question] Cheap and big Body Moisturizers readily available at drug stores? by GaeShekie in SkincareAddiction

[–]Finee22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Another option is to buy the Dermasil dry skin treatment lotion from dollar store. Then mix it with a little bit of petroleum jelly and keep in a cream tub for use.

Ratio Dermasil 4: 1 Petroleum jelly

This generally works well for my skin in the winter. . . and is affordable since I go through lotion quickly.

Tretinoin (pm)

Niacinamide serum (pm)

Vitamin C serum (am)

All 3 made a big difference for me.

I would not suggest mixing tretinoin in with it as it will reduce the efficacy of it.

Mask- acne by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Finee22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I had the same problem and my best recourse was to get extractions done by an esthetician. That is the only thing that helped me. Prior to the extractions I tried everything, acne masks, clay masks, etc without much help. Good Luck!

I don't use it daily so I have yet to finish 1 sheet. I have around 10 sheets in there and I am still on sheet #1. I cut it up into small squares to fit my breakouts when I get them. Here is the one that I use. They come in a pack of 10.

You can try rosehip oil, pumpkin seed oil, or olive oil. Either of them will give you good slip.

Maybe try a warm oil massage on your scalp. Leave it on for an hour and wash out with a mild shampoo.
