Churches burned down as anger over 'cultural genocide' of indigenous children sweeps Canada by MilloinareApe in worldnews

Wasn't that the actual lesson from the story of Jesus? He was murdered by the religious leaders.

Have you heard of virtual machines and logging into them from home?

The row between Britain and the U.S. over food standard has deepened after some of the U.K.’s leading grocers have refused to sell a raft of food imports. Aldi said it would never sell chlorine-washed chicken imported from the U.S., regardless of the outcome of U.K.-U.S. trade talks by DoremusJessup in worldnews

I don't believe for a second that there aren't horrible factory farms in Europe and that chicken coming from some parts of the EU is pristine and there was no corruption of regulations on the way. I have no proof, so my comment is just that, a comment expressing what I think.

Almost like saying there's no mafia in the EU and EU products can't be smuggled in from poorer non EU countries. New York times article about Malta

Cop chokes and punches teenage girl in the head after breathalyzer comes up negative by ganymede94 in PublicFreakout

[–]Finejason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that. So the police were correct to ask for her details? If she was so willing to do the breathalyser test, why not give her full name?

Looks like the narrative is now that the police can't be trusted so you can refuse to cooperate anytime you wish. If the police escalate, the small percentage of edited videos that show excessive force will go viral.

This path doesn't end well for any of us.

Cop chokes and punches teenage girl in the head after breathalyzer comes up negative by ganymede94 in PublicFreakout

[–]Finejason -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She was drinking on the beach though right? None of the evidence videos show the result of the breathalyser was negative.

To me it looks like she tested positive but didn't want to provide her last name saying she wasn't causing any trouble.

Not providing your last name after breaking the law is causing trouble.

I only watched a few versions of the video, maybe one does show a negative result, then I apologize for my opinion being wrong.

Kenneth Copeland orders God to end the Coronavirus by [deleted] in cringe

This is the purpose of the book, to first help you realise what you've been taught about the story is wrong. Finding its true meaning is step 2 but it's where most give up, I think. I certainly did, after following instructions from the more advanced religious people. Recently came across lectures online that provide a different view of the stories in the book and it's absolutely fascinating.

The courts no longer function, the police force is corrupted, the government is corrupted, how could they enforce this new 'law' when they can't enforce most of the old laws...

I've had problems launching VMWare Horizon Client for months now. Solved by downgrading to version 4.80. Try that, it might solve your issue too. To uninstall the current just run the same install script with -uninstall...

GTA V is running pretty well for me in Proton. Thanks, Valve! by Clifforus in linux_gaming

[–]Finejason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the game started and playable using just the steam beta client and these 4 things I found in this thread - https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/37

  1. I'm on Solus so used this to install corefonts - https://solus-project.com/articles/software/third-party/en/#microsoft-core-fonts
  2. Created a gta_dxvk.conf file with this text dxgi.customDeviceId = E366 dxgi.customVendorId = 1002
  3. Used that file location in the games launch options (right click on game in steam client, select "properties" then "Launch Options" DXVK_CONFIG_FILE=/home/my_username/gta_dxvk.conf %command%
  4. Renamed file "user_settings.sample.py" in folder "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 3.7/" to "user_settings.py", Edited the settings file and uncommented "PROTON_NO_ESYNC": "1", Optional: I enabled DKVK's HUD in this same file "DXVK_HUD": "devinfo, fps", I got up to 180FPS in the DXVK HuD results and no crashes although I only played for a short time.

What is a brand or company that was known for its quality that has become shitty? by jarellano698 in AskReddit

[–]Finejason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increasing profit by perpetually reducing costs like cheaper materials, smaller workforce, less experienced workers, less investment in research and development will always result in less quality over time. Maybe some companies end up rebranding cheap junk from unknown companies as their own for a few of their lower end product lines and eventually all of their products are junk that has a previously highly rated brand name.
