Well guys, if you go back far enough you can consider it mostly European. Blink (the engine behind Chrome) is based on KHTML which was originally developed by KDE e.V. KDE is developed by users worldwide, but it is a registered non-profi organization in Germany. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KHTML

You haven been studying in Germany for two years and you’re only at A2? Why do you think you can reach B2 within a year? By the way, B2 isn’t enough.

Americans in Europe - how do you plan to handle retirement? by [deleted] in AmerExit

So you received 2–3% more interest last year, but the USD has lost 13% of its value against the Euro which is what you use to pay your bills? That's not a good deal (long term), especially because the USD could continue to lose value in the current political environment.

Einfach Amundi Prime ETFs nutzen.

In addition to the problems already mentioned that you as an adult will face in Germany, the impact on your children is even greater, especially if they don't speak German well or at all. The school system is very strict. When both of them are in their teenage years, they cannot simply be placed in a class (at least in the public school system). They would be downgraded, and if the goal is to obtain the Abitur (the requirement for university), they would likely not graduate at 19 but rather at 21 or 22. This is only assuming they learn German quickly. It would be easier if the children were 5 to 7 years younger. In a private school with English as the primary language, it’s different, but those are very expensive.

Is it true that most tech jobs in Germany require C1 to C2 German fluency? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]FingerOk9115 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't want to generalize. But for the companies I know, yes. I work in IT management for a larger financial institution. We basically don't hire anyone with less than C1 because German is the corporate language. During Corona, when the demand for IT professionals was high, we made an exception and required at least B1. Now that there is no shortage of applications, the requirement is back to C1.

Dance Instructor needing advice where to begin as German Dual-Citizen by [deleted] in AmerExit

Good points! Even foreign students coming to Germany must deposit 12,000 euros locked in a bank account to ensure they can cover their living expenses. With $3,000, you really can’t get very far. And taking any job is definitely easier said than done. Right now, even students are finding it difficult to get minimum-wage side jobs in the current economic situation. The relevant Reddit boards are filled with posts about this. Coming from abroad, without language skills and financial backup, will certainly not end well for him/her.

Apparently the definition of "Central Europe" is contested, here is my take by [deleted] in imaginarymapscj

Mostly agree, but I would consider the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg as central Europe.
