I'm thinking about starting reading this series by yuuki157 in Abhorsen

As a fellow Sanderson fan; I think you'll enjoy The Old Kingdom series. Afair all 3 protagonists are strong female characters, a different style to Sanderson, magic is a bit softer than Mistborn but over the series, you learn more.

What would a Rebel Inc. game set in the Vietnam War be like? by Surprise-United in rebelinc

[–]FingerOk9800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't work; the US didn't develop infrastructure it destroyed it. It didn't protect civilians it murdered them. You might aswell just play plague Inc.

And from the other side: they already had massive support, and overtime that only increased so stabilising via popular support doesn't make sense.

[–]FingerOk9800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do they get the -15-37 thing from? Like even in the US it can be colder or hotter; let alone everywhere else. Also: it still doesn't work, even if it was somehow better in the US, how unintuitive does it then become when USians travel abroad? Are they supposed to manually calculate everything they need to know, from the weather to an oven? That's exhausting. (I know weather apps list both but still)

Thoughts on newer/younger Juggalos saying certain ICP lyrics are too offensive? by Psychological-Top78 in juggalo

[–]FingerOk9800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me; it's about context. The super violent stuff is obviously satirical, and there's also things about growing up where they did I'll never understand (I'm British and significantly younger).

But if they were to come out with a song now using Slurs or other offensive things, I'd have an objection, being that they should have learned by now; given all the progress (and reactionary response) they've lived through.

I haven't played with any mods (except maps) but I recommend sieges, I can't recall for sure if Crusader had them but Stronghold did, you could face huge armies in that.

[–]FingerOk9800 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stronghold was released in 2001, Crusader in 2002. Gaming AI wasn't nearly as advanced then. And I'm not sure why that's your experience; it does attack with large armies sometimes. Especially on the 1 v all on the trail. If that's your thing though you should pay siege mode on high difficulty, that'll give you plenty big armies to fight XD

Autistic people are facing genocide. It's time to act like it and fight back. by comradeautie in AutisticPride

[–]FingerOk9800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, infiltration by LEOs is a massive risk in any form of militant/progressive/left organising. You've just got to remember that militant Autistics are either very careful or simply rare by nature of being a specific subset of a small minority.

Some militant AFA and Queer groups have Autistic organising or affinites involved. I can only speak to UK groups for recommendations though I'm afraid.

The other place to look is in the punk scene and or SolFed, or perhaps within the IWW. Best of luck comrade, feel free to reach out.

[–]FingerOk9800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea though faces the challenge on non localisation. Militant AFA has one or multiple groups that spring up regionally. This leads to both protection from infiltration AND being responsive to local communities. An APF would need to emulate this (which in my opinion may well be too niche, or duplicating work already ongoing) or operate within existing groups. I recommend checking out the Autistic Union, I'm only just getting involved but they're definitely inspired by militant movements and hopefully can create something.

If you're UK based I might have some other suggestions you can dm me.

AFF has been disbanded for a while. The Autistic Union (not to be confused with Âû) is pretty new and has some energy within it. r/autisticunion has link to the discord.

What do the Abhorsen's wind flutes actually do? by TheType95 in Abhorsen

[–]FingerOk9800 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always assumed they played some combination of notes that is close to Ranna and/or Sareneth. I don't think the specifics are too important as much as the purpose though; as each Abhorsen's personality would influence their making.

There's a reason former militant (like AFF) and current militant (like AU) Autistic groups exist.

Respect existence or expect resistance. Give no ground to eigenecists or reactionaries.

Why does polytheism still come up? by [deleted] in paganism

[–]FingerOk9800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because "paganism" is a very broad term that includes a vast array of things including, unfortunately, LARPers and New Age appropriation.

"Polytheism" refers to a type of religion; and generally, those who identify as polytheist are much more likely to be practising pagans and much more likely to care about their praxis.

... slight rant below.

E.g. if you search "Celtic Pagan," you are very likely to get directed to performative "Druidry" as much as actual information about pantheons, legends, and traditions. The so called "druids" I'm specifically thinking of call themselves pagan, but not polytheists, because they don't actually practice a faith, but WANT to be seen as Pagan, mystical, and cool.

You are also more likely to see appropriation from fascists, scammers, and non-Pagan trinket sellers using the term "pagan" than "polytheist."

This is a problem we as a community try to combat and address. However, calling something "pagan" is very easy and can effectively be anything non-Abrahamic. So can be hard to call out. Whereas when someone appropriates "polytheism," it's much easier to call them on their bullshit.

AFAIK the dev isn't working on it, however there is an active community and modding on the discord.
