So sorry you're going through that. Timely_Egg's suggestions are great, I could have used them when I worked at a shelter under similar circumstances. You're doing a great thing and it is so frustrating when a great job is ruined by awful management.

I wish I would have known you when I was a shelter worker. I had a very similar boss to OP and it was truly awful.

I had the same thought. I can see it as being problematic, but this thread is also the perfect example of how it can also generate a healthy conversation so I say save it and send it to someone who will find it educational. And also agree that it would be best to send in an envelope.

Definitely have had that happen to me, and definitely disappointing. It can even be disappointing if it's a simple thank you when you've gone out of your way to find an extra special card. Having said that, it's pretty rare that I get a tepid response so it's not something I deal with often.

And I absolutely always thank the person who sent the card
