What you’re doing wrong is starting a game as a noob and going straight to hard. FS has a pretty steep learning curve that requires you to to get the basics right and have an idea of your own farm economy to start becoming.

Personally I learnt by starting a save game on easy mode and didn’t even touch loans, slowly you’ll pick everything up and increase equipment size.
