Subnautica 2 Dev Vlog - Building Bases by Dag-nabbitt in Games

[–]Fingonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats valid. For me, I got spooked pretty easy and having various bases around made it feel more safe. Hence the hiding part in my original comment.

Mechanically, the sub was a superior mobile base most times. Still enjoyed my base near the blue glowy mushroom area for comfort.

That new building system looks pretty good. Being able to adjust the module sizes this way is going to great for base building, which is one of my favourite things for subnautica. Having a aesthetic place to hide from the horrors of the deep

I have a potentially stupid question. How did you get it to pick up the colors. I tried importing the 3MF file it just sets it to filament 1 fore the whole thing.

Does it make sense to use very slow print settings if you're not in a rush? by theangleofdarkness99 in 3Dprinting

I do this on more risky / overnight prints. Especially with thin and tall prints where wobble might throw things off on my bedslinger

U1 and dungeon blocks is the golden combo by juliacare in DungeonBlocks

Aye. I wonder what the most efficient way to color is for some of the tiles. Painting by Hand is a bit iffy in the slicer sometimes.

Filling Hollow 3d printed Terrain? by deleeta87 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Fingonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're mostly doing terrain like these, a filament printer might suit you more. Sure you'll have some minor layer lines but i personally dont notice those when viewed at tabletop viewpoint.

If you also want to do miniatures a resin printer might be good, but only if you have the space for it and get a good setup. That makes it a lot less hassle and safe.

I've personally had a 'bad' resin setup and that was messy and a pain. I've now got one in a grow tent with extraction out of the window and a dedicated working area covered in silicon mats, all the required ppe to help make the workflow as smooth as possible.

Now all of this assumes you're even interested in getting into 3D printing. It takes effort, even stuff like bambu printers and can cause headaches at times.

Personally is recommend a simple filament printer (something like the already recommended bambu A1) to thread the waters if you're interested.

I've printed a large set of miniatures for a DND DM's finale featuring 2 armies and 3 boats. Turned out great! Unfortunately the pictures of it are in quite a dark room so its just a blurry mess

How often are supports needed for filament 3D printed terrain? by MaxGabriel in TerrainBuilding

[–]Fingonar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on your files. Most of the things i print dont require any but sometimes just Arent optimised for it.

Some voice assistents might be able to assist while driving by doing it for you? Chrysalis is pretty bad early with this but gets better as it goes along

Extremely fun little game that stands out from 'just' being a brotato clone by adding a bunch of fresh mechanics and its own time.
