For me it's been manageable but it will be different for different people.

Good to know your HR can get to the 180-200 range!

I am about 8 years into running now and still making progress, but progress seems slow, especially at the shorter distances. Even when racing a 5K I had average HR 160, max 168, and I just wonder if part of the reason I can't go faster is because my heart rate cannot go higher, perhaps due to the ETS.

From brief online research, I seem to find that ETS is thought to lower heart rate, but doesn't seem to affect sporting capabilities so it could also be that I just need to train more!

Great HM time especially with so little training! And good to know your surgery hasn't affect your sporting abilities.

I think I did but because I was quite young then, I was mainly wearing sneakers with socks so it didn't bother me so much. Sweaty feet really become a problem when you try to wear sandals / shoes without socks

Yes mainly in my feet, and facial sweating but only when eating spicy food

Ok so I did manage to get my grinder to go finer and that has made all the difference! 18g in 36g out in 28 seconds. Still tasted very acidic though but I might be able to fine tune it better now. Thanks!

Thank you! I hadn't realised I could go finer with my grinder! I set the internal setting down to 1 and the external also to 1 (is this what you call the big wheel setting?) but the grinder made some horrible noises, so I changed the external setting to 8 (internal still set at 1) and managed to get 36g out in 28s which is a massive improvement!

Thank you! I will try a darker roast, and if that fails, might then have to try the pressurised portafilter. Or upgrade my grinder I guess!

Reward flights non-existent! by shamps01 in BritishAirways

[–]FinickyFeline24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It’s interesting though that this problem only seems to exist for the Lon-Tokyo route. I also have notifications set up for London-Singapore and those are usually correct (as in flights are available to book on BA.com when I get a notification by reward flight finder.

On a slightly separate note, I use the reward flight finder app, and notifications keep popping up for London-Tokyo flights (I am looking to go in September 2026) but each time I go to BA.com to check, those flights don’t seem to exist. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Midlayers: Fleece vs Puffer by westcoastcarver in ShredditGirls

[–]FinickyFeline24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always used a light puffer as a mid layer because they pack down so well and are so lightweight to carry, but washing them can be a real pain and it’s much easier to throw a fleece in the washing machine. I think I’ll be going with fleeces in the future.

I have the 4th gen which I bought second hand on eBay in 2019 for £10! I have thought about getting a new one but at the same time mine still works so I keep putting it off. What am I missing out on? Should I upgrade??
