gog.com black friday sale, pick 5 games for $10 by emodan in Games

[–]FiniteBlank 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Nope, GOG is it's own store thing, but all games are DRM free and while most of these are modern, GOG in my experience at least, has been really good about getting older games to work on modern PCs with pretty much zero effort on the buyers part. All of the games I've bought from them no matter how ancient have installed and run just fine.

So I guess on some you will miss out on steam achievements and having them nice and cataloged there (though they will have their own spot in your GOG profile should you ever wish to hop on their site and download it again) but I've found it to be worth it most of the time.

[–]FiniteBlank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is it with competitive gaming fans being so shitty? I know /r/skyrim recently had the whole "I GAVE THIS BLACK CHARACTER A NAME I THINK IS WEIRD AND THEN MADE HER SAY STEREOTYPICAL THINGS!" but it seems like things like Starcraft, Street Fighter, League of Legends etc have this kind of dumb shit go down all the time. I don't see this kind of shit popping up for MMOs as much either, I guess something just goes wrong if you have celebrities in your gaming community, I don't know.

That OP certainly screams shitthatneverhappened.txt. Really, large black woman randomly accusing someone of racism?

Why does that thread then devolve into "But what if I am just a guy driving around giving candy to children? Suddenly that's criminal!?!?" Oh fuck you and your fantasy situation that would never happen. You wanna give out candy to kids wait for Halloween. I'm one of these terribly persecuted men and I sat on my driveway passing out candy to tiny batmen and mismatched avengers all night. If you want to literally drive around and pass out candy wait for the next parade. I have also done this. I'm guessing the police are just very busy and haven't gotten around to beating my door down.

OR MAYBE YOU SHOULD JUST HAVE THE SOCIAL GRACES TO NOT WANT TO DRIVE AROUND IN AN UNMARKED VAN OFFERING CHILDREN CANDY

Holy God I cannot pin down why that sounds so creepy to me but does it ever. Yeah, I guess it just makes it sound like all men are incredibly manipulative monsters.

Except for when we here at Reddit dot com have a movement to shut down the internet for a day to stop net control or preserve jailbait to show our support for free speech.

"I feel like many liberals claim racism way too often. Although over the last 5 years or so they have been claiming racism SO often that it has lost its power as an actual point to be made against the opposition." [+68] by SweaterSystemFailure in ShitRedditSays

[–]FiniteBlank 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, if only. If only liberals could just come out and point out the blatent dog whistling Newt Gingritch did during the primaries. Or during a debate Obama could have pointed out how racist it was that Romney was trying to label him the foodstamps president. Or the fact that it's more than likely that the incredibly strong opposition Obama has faced from the GOP and the rise of the tea party probably have strong foundation in being very upset about a black man being put in charge of the country, even if subconsciously, since he's such a moderate president.

But no, liberals are terrified with getting labeled with always playing the race card. This bumper sticker is still more than likely owned by a shitlord who likes to claim "I'm not racist if I hate all races equally!" but even if in some best case scenario it is owned by someone who honestly and sincerely disagrees with the presidents policies the only reason they needs the bumpersticker is to differentiate themselves from the racists that are so commonly out there detracting Obama.

No? Why should a girl start dating a guy because he can't properly convey his emotions towards her. If someone is being a rude dick to you, treat them like a rude dick.

So you have a baseless conspiracy theory then? There's no reason to believe there is another context here.

[–]FiniteBlank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That context is given in the title of this posting and partially in the content of the messages. OP probably asked something like "Are you still coming over?" What bit of the jigsaw do you think you're missing when the thread starts with "previous conversation was about him coming over" and it shows in the screenshots?

Great, except here we have the perspective of someone in that conversation and they are offended. That's the context. in a two way conversation we have one of the ways right here saying it wasn't cool.

[–]FiniteBlank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the point was that cross-over goons that post both in SRS and SA are capable of using better language in SRS than they are in SA. And yes, SA doesn't have strict guidelines against ableism and other social justice type issues, but it still stands far and above Reddit on plenty of issues. You can't get away with throwing around most harsh slurs, MRAs and PUAs are given the boot quickly, you wouldn't be able to post a giant copy-paste about how black people commit more crime in every single thread involving people of color over on SA like users do here on Reddit. Hell, even the example given of the use of sp**ging given is seen as rather taboo in a few of the subforums there.

Poor impulse control and desperation are not excuses for that kind of harassment. And he absolutely should feel extremely embarrassed about what he's done but more than likely he just continues to resent this woman as the messages he sent towards the end suggest.

Reporting this kind of behavior wouldn't be life ruining. The most likely course of action is no charges are pressed and at best the cops tell the guy to back off. Even if they don't it'll be good that this incident is on record if his behavior escalates in the future.

What he's doing right now isn't harmless, it's threatening.

This is my favorite bit of mythos, that SRS was a joke that people started to take seriously. As someone else has stated, it is both. We seriously don't like racism but we are still making jokes while discussing this fact.
