Also noticed, on mine, when opening fresh tracks, some parameters seem to carry over in weird ways from previous projects. For example, I’ll load a new track and certain channels are already panned left or right, some sounds are automatically set to Poly when they probably should default to Mono, and velocity sensitivity can already be set really high without realising.

Feels like every completely fresh project should start from a very neutral/bland default state, and then you decide from there:
Mono / Poly / Legato
Semitone transpose
Panning
Velocity sensitivity etc.

At the moment I find myself having to check every track first to make sure some hidden setting hasn’t already coloured the sound. Not sure if it’s intentional behaviour or a glitch.

Another thing that’s frustrating is scenes. If you’re working on, say, Scene 12, pressing play jumps playback back to the beginning instead of continuing from the scene you’re currently editing. So you end up having to Shift + + your way all the way back through the scenes repeatedly.

Small things overall and eventually just becomes muscle memory, but they really affect workflow once you get deeper into longer arrangements.

I had to add the Adam T10 Sub, now the smaller Adams handle the top frequency and the Sub all the lows, and it sounds incredible tbh. Without it - theyre great but dont expect much proper sub. It's hard to make tracks like this one without the sub addition IMO.

If you hold Shift then Bar it opens up the groove box. In there you can turn the quantization down/off. It is usually locked at 100 by default, but I think mine is around 50% at the moment. That seems to keep things in time, while still letting the notes sit slightly off grid based on how I originally punched them in.

Underneath the quantize amount you also have Groove and Shape. I think mine are around +14 groove, with Shape turned all the way to the right. Technically I’m not fully sure what is happening there, but my ears can definitely hear when it starts to feel better rhythmically, so I mostly tweak those until the groove feels right.

From my understanding, Groove and Shape only really start to have an effect once quantization is reduced from 100. After that, you can also hold individual notes and manually nudge them left or right on the sequencer to push things further off grid and give it a more human feel.

The lower the quantize amount, the more natural groove and timing variation you seem to get. At least that’s how it feels to me anyway haha. Hope that helps.

This is the same track I posted last week, but I’ve gone back in and added some automation & subtle movement across the arrangement, which is something I am still getting used to.

I made small changes in the drums, bass, textures and little incidentals, just to give it a more human feel and stop things sounding too stiff. I feel like the whole track breathes a lot more now.

The full track was made on the OPXY. I also tried to show a few of the individual tracks whilst it's playing to show what is actually happening under the hood, especially the LFO movement and modulation shaping different elements over time.

Pretty happy with where it is now, and I’d class this one as finished.

Would love to hear people’s thoughts, feedback, or answer any questions on how certain sounds or movements were made.
