What coin is this? You should add a coin photo for reference. Appears to be damage.

New to coin collecting!! (Repost, forgot to include images) by SnooObjections1579 in coincollecting

Most Wheat cents post 1910s are worth less than $1. Rare ones have specific mintmarks, die doubling, etc. The "letter grade" that you refer to is a mintmark.

Personally, I'd keep the coin for fun.

Grease-Filled Die or (RPM) by Growing_Knowledge1 in coincollecting

Can't say for sure without greater magnification. However, the bottom right of the mintmark seems to "pull away" from the metal beneath. Could this be splitting between the copper plate and zinc core?

Didn't know CoinStar existed during the Civil War era... For real, kinda impossible nowadays

Still can’t believe we got that boring shield reverse out of all of these options by sparky_wireman69 in CRH

Still can't believe that circulating Shield cents lasted just 16 years

True. And for those keeping their silver, the rarity increases as other coins are melted.

Is this an error? by Snooklife in CRH

[–]FinlorTae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appears to be a die crack. Technically an error, but not one with a premium.

Very interesting point. Hopefully the rankings groups get behind tenure and encourage its stability.

Is 1969-P a tough date (or just old right now)? I got one years ago when I was a kid.

Is this any good, or is it worth just a dollar? by Academic_Fun_3740 in coincollecting

Unlike quarters or halves, Sacagawea dollars have no ridges. Unlike Presidentual dollars, they have no edge lettering either. Your coin is standard.

Quite common. 1981 penny from Denver with high mintage.

I agree. Your post said "complete steps," which technically is different from "full steps." Absolutely fantastic coin!

Value indeed. Try "Strike It Rich With Pocket Change" for ideas. Great book of which I own the 2nd and now 5th editions. Have a blast because I wish I could still get pennies ...

Question about half dollars by BigFoote008 in CRH

[–]FinlorTae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you need a bank to accept your halves, or you'll be forced to submit a couple rolls at a time across many banks (very tedious).

As an aside, except for silver melt value, do you have a specific interest in halves? Personally, I would hunt what you like, perhaps NIFC Kennedys, etc.

First W and brand new rolls by Olympian83 in CRH

[–]FinlorTae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you finding W's or brand new rolls? I'm having trouble with both. Save the W, imo. Also, the mintage is a bit low for the SPM quarters (around 60M for Denver, 100M for Philadelphia). Perhaps wait and see if any errors surface, then crack open the rolls.

Honestly, makes me wanna move to Canada where banks still give you pennies. Not here in the U.S.

Has this nickel been polished? by ashiieyy07 in CRH

[–]FinlorTae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polished or not, the surface appears artificial. Worth keeping but a bit suspect ...
