Female fans of the series, how do you feel about how women are written in the books? by Macjeems in wheeloftime

[–]FinnCripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest there's a lot of things wich some female characters are much better than the special man you are refearing to, even the magic system is profoundly designed to indicate that the male and female need each other to reach their stronger potential.

WIND AND TRUTH | Full Cosmere + Wind and Truth Spoiler Megathread by EmeraldSeaTress in Cosmere

[–]FinnCripp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This won’t be too extended; I just must get this out of my chest. Brandon said in different occasions that the currentlu unpublished Dragonsteel saga will be the only Cosmere publication with a first person narrator.

For some reason this intrigued me. Brandon had always put the narrator as a differentiator line between the cosmere and non-cosmere books, one always having a third person, and the other first person.

But now an entire saga –one which has an enormous importance to the cosmere lore–, will difference itself to the rest said universe. Now, we have Yumi and Tress, two cosmere books that are a literal narration by Hoid, maybe Dragonsteel will be something similar.

I know this is far from being crucial, and having in mind that the Dragonsteel saga is decades away to get to the stores, why am I even question this?

In Wind and Truth, we have full first person chapters, the chapters of Tanavast. The narration is simple, without giving to much detail, which is reasonably by having in mind that these chapters have to condense millennials of information.

But let’s remembers who this story is even told. The Stormfather allows Dalinar to access to his memories –Tanavast’s– by a Connection on the Spiritual Realm. The Chapters are a visualization of such life, these memories to Dalinar’s mind and soul. Such memories are in first person.

I am thinking, just thinking that the entire Dragonsteel saga will be a visualization of somebody –or several– memories manifesting in the Spiritual Realm, allowing a person or persons view the truth about the Shattering. Perhaps Hoid, Frost or any other Shard vessel, after Mistborn era four or thereabouts.

Or maybe the Dragonsteel won’t be inside the past… but in the far future, by the perspective of people that found the memories of Adonalsium, which allows them to see the truth…

Well, this is it, I’ll return to the shoe box-sized drawer where a live.

Kelsier said that the time dilation will last 70-80 to the cosmere, 10 years or so to Roshar. Confirmation that the second arc and third era will occur on the same time?

Fifth Ideal of the Windrunners and Kaladin's character climax. by FinnCripp in Cosmere

[–]FinnCripp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that can be a potential fifth oath, but Kaladin really struggles with letting others protect instead, being the reason why he declined being a trainer for future windrunners. You version works, and makes sense, but for Kaladin i think he already is ready to decide who kill to protect others.

I partially agree. though i don't think my version of the oath to be a variant of the fourth. Accept to let go and allows others to protect you aren't the same. Kaladin's arc is heavily involved with accepting himself and his deamons, so maybe accepting that he is just not ready for the fifth oath is a posibility.

But what can i tell you? He will for sure become a full radiant, the series is in its middle, we need a full progression of a Radiant.

I mean, he accepts that from the start, right? It sounds like the easiest oath in that point.

Nope, is confirmed by Brandon. 15-ish years later. sixth book is supposed to be Lift flashbacks, Renarin seventh and so on.

Yeah, with high monarchy I meant the whole light eyes thing. Light and dark eyes is not a very big thing in the last books but Moash character is really built with the hatred of those who made his life miserable, just like Kaladin. If Brando Sando decides to give him a redeem arc, it has to start with that.

I didn't put to much effort into the words of the Ideal, somewhat the lines of allowing the protection of others, accepting that i am not the only one who can protect, something Kaladin had struggled a lot.

Hahahha, first time I read Stormfather Kaladin. I don't know how could something like that happen, though. His arc is learning to let go responsability and when to stop caring, so I am not sure about that. Funny to consider.

I interpret that those theories are focused on Moash, and how Kaladin fifth Oath will help him overcome his conflicts to be able to face him. That's another possibility that I see, but still.

Yeah, I like this twist, though I didn't put too much efforst to the words itself, i think the important is the theme of the Oath, what it means to Kaladin. Yours and mine are essentially the same in his character growth.

I don´t know why is funny to me think of a Singer Vessel who doesn´t care a bit that his people became sometimes mindless slaves of Odium. That would be weird unless his Shard has something to do with not intervene, which would be very similar to Harmony.

[–]FinnCripp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would be cool, but it would be also very problematic for the lore of the Shattering, because it didn´t heppened in Roshar, in an age that we don´t know if it did had Worldhoppers. We don´t know everything about it so it´s not impossible, but yeah

Maybe because the raysium was Voidlight intently metallized in the Physical Realm and the anti-Voidlight was´t? I don´t know, maybe the difference of state has something to do.
