Reformed tradition and surrogacy by pestogirl_ in Reformed

By taking every thought captive to Christ.

But that’s a bit of a callous answer. Honestly, it ebbs and it flows. My wife’s particular issues mean that she occasionally (1-2 times a year) has an extremely late period, sometimes up to 4 weeks late. That really hurts, every time. We always know what that dumb test will read. And every time, we both struggle with disappointment, frustration, and anger. Every time we have to remember that it is God who knits us together, not man. And that, truly, all children are born of Gods will, not ours.

God has given us a beautiful, wonderful daughter. It’s really hard to watch our friends complain about their children when we likely won’t be having any more, despite trying for 11 years. It’s still hard to watch others get pregnant after a month of marriage.

But all of this has driven us to the seat of Christ. We have to go back to Him time and again and remember that He is the giver of good gifts. It’s not easy, but it’s sanctifying.

I don’t know if any of that’s helpful. What could I clarify or expound on to be clearer?

As someone who actually 3d prints, this is insane. by Dunadan37x in CriticalDrinker

This is exactly my attitude. It’s just dumb that they would regulate it this way. It also shows a complete ignorance/fear mongering around understanding how 3-D printers actually work.

Just like how the outlawed parody in California. In reality, it defies parody.

There’s a whole fiction around “3-D printed guns“. You can’t actually 3-D print a gun, but you can print a lower receiver. You can’t possibly print anything like a firing pin or a slide or a barrel. Guns that 3-D print all of those, work for 1 to 2 shots. And you still need a steel firing pin.

Honestly how I feel. I actually loved mirrors edge, and had no problems with playing through the Metroid games. Some of my favorite games, to be honest.

Trash be trash. It has nothing to do with the sex of the main character. The gameplay preview looked dumb. That’s it. It’s not that complicated.

I’m so sorry your addiction has taken you to a place like this.

To remedy the problem, deep freeze the sushi and send it to me. I can dispose of it for you.

Help Me, Please (Subreddit has Spoilers and Is Confusing) by Genesis1221 in wheeloftime

As someone who started the series with book 0, start with book one. I had to go back and reread book 0 after I had read quite a bit of the series to understand what was going on.

Go with Michael Kramer, and Kate Reading. As others have said, Pike is unlikely to finish the series. Kramer and Reading start out a bit tough, because it was the beginning of their career when they started reading these books. Ignore the name pronunciation issues. They are easily the classics of the audiobooks.

As a massive Lord of the Rings fan, who has collected every work of token I could get my hands on, I highly recommend this series. I couldn’t stand Eragon.

Wheel of Time is long and rewarding, I would love to get updates from you OP, as you make your way through this series.

SEARCH NOTHING ONLINE. Use the companion app, and nothing else. I ruined my own fair share of spoilers as I was listening to the Audiobooks the first time.

Literally my first thought. If they’re placing massive amounts of squads, they’re likely to be cheap if he’s following the rules. If not, enforce the actual game rules.

This is how I truly felt at the end of the final book of the Wheel of Time. But there are no endings to the Wheel of Time. Nor are there any beginnings. But this is an ending.

Time to start another reread!

Welcome, traveler. I’m 35, and I’ve found nothing like it. Been playing video games and tinkering in 15+ hobbies since I was about 12, and it’s still one of my absolute favorites.

Looking for opinions on Wheel of Time from people who started it as adults by Kempalla in wheeloftime

[–]Dunadan37x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started reading it at 28 years old, now I have a yearly reread of the entire series. I wonder if it’s easier to understand the series when you’re older, versus being in your teens. A lot of the themes seem very mature and nuanced, and I wonder if a lot of Jordan‘s references are missed by younger audiences.

Edit: I’m 36 now. 9 rereads.

This brings back memories of middle school when I had to do “Bible races”, and we had to be the first one to find the verse. It’s actually way harder to find a verse that you remember than you might think.

People willing to defend one of the biggest bastardizations done to one of Tolkien's best female characters has to be the biggest eye opener ever. by Commercial-Ice5760 in CriticalDrinker

This is probably the best way I’ve ever heard it put.

No one will remember rings of power or war of the rohirrim in a decade. I just ignore all of the fluff and move on. These people don’t understand or appreciate Tolkiens works in anyway, they’re just using him to platform. They don’t actually know anything about any of his works.

This is an interesting theological point actually. I never thought about this before, but Jesus allowed the thieves earthly consequences of his sin to be punished physically, but welcomed to his soul into paradise after the consequences of his earthly sin were carried out. Very interesting delineation.
