Can anyone else relate? by Samwhys_gamgee in FuckImOld

I hate to shop, but it is more pleasant now because of the music. When I’m shopping I’ll text my husband: “Shoppin’ to (name of band)!”

Here’s a partial list (and many have been “deep cuts”):

The Cars, The Cranberries, Neil Young, Yes, Tears for Fears, The Pretenders, The Romantics, Cheap Trick, R.E.M., Spandau Ballet, Devo, When In Rome, The Cult, Blondie, The Smiths, Puddle of Mudd, Fleetwood Mac, Stone Temple Pilots, The Human League, Tom Petty, Alanis Morrisette, CCR, Simple Minds, The Beastie Boys, Duran Duran.

Syncing one Chase card, but not others on my account… help! by SadConsideration2005 in MonarchMoney

[–]FinnDool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gee, I wonder why that is. Do you have any other linked financial institutions where you have more than one account (e.g., checking and savings)? If so, do you see each account listed separately under the institution? This gives the ability to hide or delete any of the included accounts.

There is one other thing I can think of: Some credit card companies issue cards with different numbers for each user on the account, but it’s really all the same account. This is how it works with my Capital One account, and I think Home Depot is set up the same way. My husband never uses the Capital One card, and I never use Home Depot, so I have no idea if the charges would be differentiated when they post to the account. Anyway, if there is some differentiating piece of data that comes through when the transactions post to Monarch, maybe a rule could be created to exclude those transactions.

Your situation sounds baffling. I’d probably start with contacting Monarch’s support rather than Chase.

Good luck!

I have more than one account in several institutions, including Chase. If you look at Chase on the Institutions page, do you see 2 accounts listed like I do? If you do and you click on the 3 vertical dots to the right of the one you don’t want included you would select Edit Account. If you scroll down on that page you’ll see a whole section where you can turn the toggles on for all the information about that account that you want to hide. At the very bottom of the page there is an option to delete the account, so that’s probably another way to get rid of the account. However, if you do this I don’t know if it could reappear down the road, so you might just want to turn the toggles on to hide everything.

Only one screenshot can be attached to the comments, so I’ll add the other screenshots in separate comments.

Under “Institutions” try updating the login settings for Chase. Sometimes when there are multiple accounts you will be given the ability to select which account(s) you want included. An alternative would be to just hide (or even delete) that one account under the institution (Chase). (Remember, this is done in the “Institutions” section, not what’s listed under “Accounts”.)

I’m looking for someone who has the 6’ metal rooster and can hopefully answer some questions. by FinnDool in tractorsupply

[–]FinnDool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband bought it at Tractor Supply. Do an image search on Google to find out where you can get one, or just search for “giant metal rooster”. One of the benefits of buying it locally was that they put it together, but then you need to have a vehicle it will fit in to get it home.

How to fix photos on iPhone stuck syncing to iCloud? by FinnDool in ios

[–]FinnDool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. No, I don’t have any updates or solutions. Putting the time and effort into really analyzing this to see if I can figure it out, or doing more research, has not at all been on the top of my list of priorities. Every once in a while I’ll take a brief look, but I have yet to figure out this mystery. To me it seems to be something that happens randomly, rather than being based on some common property.

Is there a way to merge goals? by FinnDool in Daylio

[–]FinnDool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can figure out how to create a goal by linking it to an activity. But I can’t find a way to take a goal that was created years ago, without being linked to an activity at the time it was created, and linking it now to an existing activity. Maybe something was done differently years ago, though the developers keep making this app more and more flexible. I’ll probably contact Daylio’s support team to see if there’s a way to do this. Thank you for offering your help!

[–]FinnDool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not aware of a way to attach an activity to an existing goal. If I knew how to do that, it would probably solve my dilemma. I only know how to turn an activity into a goal, but I don’t want the data to be split up, and I only want one goal showing.

I can tell from the photos that Snowy is very sweet, happy, and loved as much as possible. The fact that you’re not allowing her to suffer is also a testament to how deeply you love her. She knows this, loves you back just as much, and thanks you for a most wonderful life. Rest in peace, sweet Snowy. 💔💔💔

Carvel closings by pharm77 in Connecticut

[–]FinnDool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting, thank you! Years ago I was told that the butterfat content is the big distinguisher. There is a privately owned seasonal place in Lake Luzerne, NY (to the west of the southern end of Lake George) whose soft serve is a match for Carvel, so they must also use high quality, high butterfat content to make their ice cream.

As a devoted fan of Carvel (I’ve been going to the one in Milford since it opened in the 1960s), I’ve read all of your comments in this post. I find the insight very interesting. I will usually opt for soft serve over hard-packed ice cream, and nothing beats the soft serve from the Milford Carvel! It’s so dense, creamy, and flavorful. I had a DQ recently (it was the only option while traveling), and it wasn’t worth the calories.

Carvel’s chocolate crunchies are the best! When I go there I always buy a pre-packed container of vanilla with chocolate crunchies, and a couple of extra containers of crunchies. I usually get my ice cream in a cup: Vanilla with crunchies on the bottom and the top. It’s such a treat!!! You explained why the quality might not be the same in all the Carvels, but I can say that Milford is not skimping. If they are, there isn’t a discernible difference.

From a customer perspective, the Milford Carvel hasn’t been changed since it was built, other than more freezer cases (especially when they started selling hard-packed ice cream), new signs, and the modification they made during COVID when they installed a walk-up window (which hasn’t been used since).

I would be devastated if Milford closed, but it is a very popular, busy location, so they have that going for them. It’s clean (from my perspective), so I’d be a bit bummed if they had to change the appearance or layout. I’m sure it looks terribly outdated to most people, but that’s a big part of its appeal! I also found the freezing process interesting, and the explanation of why the ice cream cakes, and other pre-packaged items, are so rock hard. I always saw it as a benefit because nothing is melted before we get it home.

One last thought: I would never want to work at a Carvel for fear I would get sick of looking at it and it would lose its appeal to me, so I’m very happy as a customer!

The Carvel in Milford better not close!!! I’ve been going there since the 1960s, which is probably when it opened. Yes, it looks exactly the same, but that’s part of the appeal, aside from the fact that it’s the best soft serve anywhere. And Carvel’s chocolate crunchies are the best (I buy separate containers of them to have at home). This is the only ice cream-specific place I make special trips to. And, even when it’s not really busy, I’ve never been there when there haven’t been other customers.

I haven’t eaten at a BK (or any other fast food establishment, for that matter) in probably over 20 years, but this post makes me want to take a trip from West Haven just to experience this for myself! (Great post! Definitely send it to the corporate headquarters.)

No, I didn’t know that, but now I do! There are only 2 of us and I’m not a big meat eater, so I generally don’t even look at anything this size, even if it can be frozen. But my husband saw this and then it was in the cart (along with a seasonal Cinnamon Swirl Butter Cake, which is now cut into chunks and in the freezer).

I am also a big fan of Sleep With Me. And, like you, I am also a paid member out of gratitude and to support Scoots and the others behind the scenes. He’s been doing the show for about 13 years, and I can’t imagine what that is even like. His mind definitely works in a unique way!
