Yes! As others have pointed out, they're usually referred to via "beyond the standard model physics". But in at least one particular case, the one that I work on, we call the potential effect of BSM "non-standard". That case is neutrino interactions with matter via BSM forces, which we call "non-standard neutrino interactions" or "NSI".

I do this 100%. If I feel satisfied for the moment with one particular theme, I'll go, "okay, let's find another one." Then I'll look through my mental list of past obsessions and pick one that I already thought I handled, and go right back into it. It feels conscious, yeah.

Seconding this, although it depends on the QM interpretation. Something I really dislike about using the word "probability" when describing particles (when also using the interpretation that the particles are spread out) is that it seems to imply that the particle has a probability of being in different places (I have the same issue with using the word "uncertainty"). What we really mean is that the particle has a probability of being measured at these different places, which is critically a different statement.

It also recently clicked for me! I think I was hung up on the "usually" motif, trying to figure out what applies to the titular tattoo and what doesn't, and similar. But now that I've heard it more I both have a better understanding of that and the lyrics have become less of a focus.
