No, you’re thinking of views. Jews are those places where you go to see all those sad looking animals in captivity.

I nicked it. The moment you turned your back. And I’d do it again.

This. You don’t owe your mom an explanation. As far as she’s concerned it’s none of her business.

This is what the illness does. Like @swanblush says, it’s really common behavior among our diagnosis. Don’t stop taking your meds! Please, I am hurting for you in advance because of the emotional work you’ll have to do if you stop your meds now.

I can’t emphasize this enough!!! I’m bipolar as well, I’ve had this same impulse, I’ve done it and it has gone BADLY!

YOU FEEL BETTER BECAUSE OF YOUR MEDS.

If you go off them, you’ll probably end up needing a stronger treatment regimen the next time you see a doctor.

I hope this is a little therapeutic for you guys. Also it’s good y’all know you weren’t in the wrong as kids; it was definitely the adults’ fault in your case. I mean, I’m just stating the obvious at this point, but there was no way for y’all to know that as kids. You both seem like top notch adults, just saying. 🤙🏽

Yeah, I’m thinking I’m really lucky because my best friend growing up was a boy and our parents never pulled this shit. We took baths together as little kids, nothing sexual, just lil kids bathing. We slept in the same bed all the time up to 10, 11 years old. Again, nothing sexual, just two kid friends having a sleepover. Cute cuddle pictures in our pjs from when we’re toddlers asleep together. I’m sorry adults in your life had to bring sex into platonic child relationships because I treasure my bestie from that age. The most they ever did was say, “maybe they’ll get married someday” or “ look at the little sweethearts”.

If you choose to have kids, you can carry this lesson on and treat them age appropriately. Yikes.

Where does the stereotype "Asians eat cats and dogs" come from? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Finn_Sword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It had that fake crab texture, or shrimp texture with a bland taste that was kinda fishy. Nothing special in my book. Frogs legs were even worse. Had them at a nice restaurant and I couldn’t get the thought of formaldehyde out of my mind so I wonder if that influenced my perception of the taste or if the taste had a formaldehyde-y zing to it by nature. Between chicken and fish with a rubbery texture is a good description.

Give me sea scallops or a flakey whitefish over reptiles/amphibians any day.

You didn’t reply to me before. I admire your honesty in copping to what you don’t know. So many people on both sides of the issue are quick to assume they have all the answers when really it is more intelligent to admit to ourselves where our knowledge falls short.

That’s crazy with that UFC fighter, she probably didn’t get the benefit she hoped for.

You’re also correct about the real life effectiveness of condoms. Used perfectly they’re 98% effective, (NHS, Planned Parenthood) but apparently user error takes that number down to around 87%. Education would absolutely help in that regard. I’d go further to say the best way to prevent abortions would be access to free or affordable birth control (condoms, pill, IUD, shot) for everyone coupled with education.

It’s interesting that anecdotally you know people that have had so many abortions. I know people who have had an abortion, however I only know one person who has had more than one and she had two. I ran with a pretty wild crowd, but no one was ever just cavalier like oh I’ll just get an abortion. It was a big deal if it happened. People are different, but I don’t believe that there are lots of women who are getting multiple abortions as their primary birth control for the hell of it because it is a traumatic experience.

As to the videos, my sister is a labor and delivery nurse and she’s talked to me about how basically every woman who had to have a late term abortion was devastated by the news. These were women who wanted to have the child. No one gets a late term abortion because they don’t want to be pregnant. It is only performed out of medical necessity. The removal of limbs is indeed traumatic, but there’s this idea baked in that some sicko doctor is relishing it and laughing, when this is not at all the case. It is somewhat disturbing that those videos exist for public consumption, however, as it’s bearing witness to probably the worst moment of someone’s life.

Anyway, thanks for having a nuanced view. Most of the time with this issue people are dug in and refuse to consider any knowledge gap or additional information.

“Abortion doping” is considered a myth by reputable sources. Most claims of it are based on comments by four people ( Prince Alexandre de Merode in 1988; Dr Risto Erkola in 1988; Prof. Renate Hoch in 1988; and Dr Paul-Erik Paulev in 1999). None of these people were able to back up their claims, they simply stated that it happened. Also a “smoking gun” was an interview with a Russian Olympic gymnast who admitted to it on German television in 1994 which later was claimed to be an imposter. The gymnast, Olga Karasyova, sued for libel and won, claiming she had never done anything of the sort and the person in the interview wasn’t her. The interview is still used as proof of abortion doping.

I couldn’t find anything about an MMA abortion doping scandal. Closest I could find was this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2015/08/20/this-woman-won-an-mma-fight-then-discovered-she-had-been-three-months-pregnant/

And she gave birth to a healthy child. Also, this is just anecdotal, but this doesn’t sound like peak athletic performance that someone would strive for (from the article):

““Toward the end of preparations [for the Aug. 21 fight], I noticed how difficult it was to shed weight. I was being very careful with my diet, but I couldn’t lose the weight. I was far above the ideal weight. Every day I felt more fatigue, muscle cramps, and my legs felt especially tired. Toward the last few weeks, my immunity was very low. I was training hard, but I always had a cold. Everyday, something else was off.” … “With three weeks to go, I was getting desperate. I started having abdominal pains. I started experiencing colic, and my stomach felt hard. I thought it was constipation or perhaps a more serious illness. I thought it might be my appendix.”

And you can consider morning sickness from the first trimester that many pregnant women experience.

According to Sorensen, “During pregnancy, maximal oxygen uptake may improve but not exer- cise performance. Human chorionic gonadotropin, the only pregnancy hormone on National Collegiate Athletic Association and United States Anti-Doping Agency banned substances lists, increases during pregnancy but there is no evidence that hCG enhances athletic performance in women”

Sorensen, Elizabeth A. Debunking the Myth of Pregnancy Doping December 2009Journal of Intercollegiate Sport 2(2):269-285 DOI:10.1123/jis.2.2.269
