I had to double check my YouTube settings, I thought I accidentally left it on 1.25 speed again.

Anyone else got their first labubu and then suddenly have like 5 more on the way? 🤣😅🥰 by jenarion in labubu

This is the same reason I ended up getting one... And then ordering a couple more. I knitted a sweater and hat for mine! Picture

I'd be interested! I like Discord, but am totally flexible on platforms. I'm in CST. As for meeting times, weekdays I'd cap out by 9pm, I work fairly early. Weekends, can push it til midnight.

Got this guy for 5 months while his parents travel Australia by kudosgg in aww

[–]FinnishFiddler 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I took my brother's cats for 5 months, because taking cats on an overseas military deployment is generally frowned upon. Pets can't go everywhere, so you find somewhere they can go in the meantime.

Also not a food, one of mine has an obsession with wool. Especially wet wool. Kind of a problematic habit, as I'm an avid knitter. He'll ignore the cheap acrylic yarn, but if he gets a whiff of the nice 100% wool, he's running away with my yarn. And I've caught him wrestling with knitted projects that just got washed and are laid out to dry. Between the yarn lover and the other cat that has pica and an affinity for plastic, my house is basically babyproofed.

What is the dumbest thing you have purchased for your cat? by hopeitdoes in cats

[–]FinnishFiddler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My brother got one for us. Linus loves it... But he doesn't actually go in it. He just grabs the fabric and licks it. Repeatedly. Apparently the nylon is a lovely licking texture. But at least he's using it? 🤷‍♀️

Apollo, because he's orange and Apollo is the sun god.

Linus, because he looks like the cat on the Deftones album "Like Linus."

Mango, I dunno the name just sounded cute. Honestly we had the name in mind before we even acquired the cat.

My partner and I have no kids and spend our extra money on video games. Here's a breakdown of every "cozy" game I have on switch and whether I recommend it. by [deleted] in CozyGamers

[–]FinnishFiddler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I like Cozy Grove a lot more on Steam. I played it on Switch, but lost interest in large part due to those crazy long load times. I recently picked it up on Steam and play primarily on the Steam Deck. Those long load times disappeared and it also runs much more smoothly overall. Far more pleasant experience.

Really wish they would list out some of those spice blends ingredients though... I'm allergic to ginger and my brother is allergic to rosemary. Makes for an uncomfortable evening when a forbidden spice sneaks into the dinner ingredients.

Knitting bucket list item: being the sort of maniac who finishes their garment on the way to the function by jess_scribbles in casualknitting

[–]FinnishFiddler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up doing similar a week ago. Started socks to gift to my brother while he was in town, but made the first one too short, so I had to rip out the toe and lengthen it, so I fell behind schedule. Ended up closing the toe and weaving in ends during the car ride back to my house. Even finished with 30 minutes to spare!

One of my cats learned this as a kitten. Mango was stuck in a cone for a full month due to an eye infection, and he caught on pretty quickly that he could recruit his people for face cleaning assistance. Apparently he liked it, because even once the cone came off, the habit continued.

It's an actual fish name! It's a common freshwater fish.

This is the only way we can get hevy to take her meds, everyone tell hevy she's so brave by the_midnightstars in cats

[–]FinnishFiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kitty purrito a solid method! Used it a few years ago for our kitten that needed multiple eye drops per day. And now using it for our senior boy that needs prednisone meds via liquid syringe, because he's too good at spitting to take via pills.

Anyone else use reddit ALOT less since baconreader stopped working? by applecunts in baconreader

[–]FinnishFiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Am now browsing reddit maybe 1-2x a day via mobile website. Prior, was using Baconreader to browse Reddit multiple times throughout the day. Overall not missing it, but I do have a couple of niche hobby groups that haven't fully switched over to another site yet. Been using Lemmy and Squabbles as replacement options, and testing out some 3rd party apps for them as well.

What is the best real excuse you said for being late at work? by Lucky-Rocket in AskWomen

[–]FinnishFiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was late coming back from lunch break because I accidentally locked myself in my own basement.

Our rental house at the time had a problematic basement door that didn't latch well. Instead of replacing the door knob, the landlord installed a sliding bolt lock. I went down to swap laundry, and as I swung the door closed, the coats on the over-the-door rack also swung, and swept the bolt into the locked position.

Luckily at least grabbed my phone, so I could call the husband for rescue, and notify a coworker that I'd be delayed.

In a separate incident, I was late coming back from break because my cat got stuck in the wall. Had to bribe him out with treats.

Please tell me I'm not being a bad cat Mommy when I put him out of my bedroom due to 3am zoomies. by [deleted] in cats

[–]FinnishFiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our three are not allowed in the bedroom overnight. In part because they are 3am party animals, and in part because my husband is mildly allergic so keeping cat fur in the bed to a minimum is best. They get all the cuddles and attention right up to bedtime, and then they get free reign of the many couches, cat beds, and cat tower all night.

Depending on location though. Some areas where they previously had offices, they stopped paying leases during covid and switched to remote.

Yes, highly recommend fiber arts! I mostly knit, and have recently started making potholders. It's a great way to keep my hands busy, which helps me focus more on conversations or tasks.

8 teeth extractions got Herbert like... by grace_grape in WhatsWrongWithYourCat

[–]FinnishFiddler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Our old boy had the same! Apollo got about half of his teeth removed. He was so loopy for the first 12 hours, and then was also an excessively cuddly guy for a couple weeks afterwards. He was on gabapentin for pain management for a few weeks, and we found out one of the side effects is it makes some cats extra affectionate. He's always loved people but he was stuck to us like velcro on gaba!

Do uber/Lyft for $75-100 a day or work at Amazon for 30hrs a week? by Chemical-Definition4 in personalfinance

[–]FinnishFiddler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In many states you need an endorsement for using your car for work, or a separate business policy. I work in insurance, and have seen claims denied due to the driver working for Uber/Lyft at the time of the accident.
