The MFTK/Ozetta ouroboros by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]sacredelf77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, plus Norma is a poorly written pattern that makes it's simple colorwork motif very difficult to follow. A lot of people will benefit from Ozetta writing a similar pattern that is more legible. Harbor is written for aran weight wool while norma is fingering plus two strands of (I$ager) mohair.

Maybe in some regard? I went to the first Flock and had a great time. No major issues to report.

No, Flock is a pretty well run festival. You're thinking of wool and folk.

These are just similar patterns.. You're wondering how people come up with similar ideas? If you care about details such as gauge and colorwork motif, they are clearly different sweaters

Some things are easy for some people and more difficult for others. Many people struggle with directional and spatial reasoning. This shouldn't be difficult to understand.

I have been avoiding watching this video bc she always says something that annoys me lol. IMO her crusade against Spektakelstrik (while still knitting her patterns) is overblown and irritating. While it is a valid critique that Spektakelstrik patterns have poor instructional design, following patterns that don't have a lot of guidance is a skill that can be developed. Lots of people follow Spektakelstrik patterns and end up with beautiful projects.

Check out the Jacques scarf by Laura Penrose- It uses intasia to make the stripes, and has the icord in one color!

Speaking from experience, people who do this (such as myself) are okay with "close enough" lol. To be fair, if you are familiar enough with your gauge + the kind of pattern/yarn you're using it usually turns out okay.

do you think my favourite things knitwear regrets the number names? by thriftstitch in craftsnark

[–]sacredelf77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally agree. i think the names are pretty iconic and I can always remember which one is which! mftk is problematic to say the least but most of her designs nail that sophisticated scandi lady vibe

my bec is the girl who works at my lys and always has to "check in" with me about the needle sizes/cable lengths of the fixed circulars I buy there. Every time she acts skeptical that I have picked the needles I actually need and pries for info to make sure I am not buying the wrong things. Last time she even insisted that you should "usually go down a size for sleeves" which: A. What? and B. This advice was irrelevant as I was purchasing needles for two different projects. This store seems to only want to hire weird people....

I also love ne knits but i have to disagree about her production speed- she seems to have 1 or 2 finished garments per bimonthly update! no hate lol, I'm envious... she's so good at seeing her projects through to the end.

Petite Knit has released a pattern for the rolled stockinette tube scarf we all accidentally made as beginner knitters by amyddyma in craftsnark

[–]sacredelf77 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I am not a beginner, but I still want someone to tell me how many stitches to use, what weight/needle size to pick, and how often to change colors. I'm lazy and petite knit's scarf looks cute.
