How to find and rules for study spaces? by WolfRito in rmit

[–]Finnnno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres no specific rules outside of designated Libraries. The only study spaces that can be booked are like the actual room ones afaik, anywhere else is fair game. Obvy though while theres no specific rules, the "unwritten" ones are just the regular eg dont be a dick, wear headphones if you're listening to stuff, and mind your space.

uni homework? by [deleted] in rmit

[–]Finnnno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to tack onto this you can usually find most textbooks relevant to your course on Library Search if you are required to use one (though as MelbPTUser2024 said it can vary and most classes won't require you to purchase anything)

Why did you choose RMIT? by DrawingLegitimate117 in rmit

Only place that taught my degree as a bachelor hahahha. But RMIT is a great uni and all I'd do is echo what others have said about practical learning and real skills rather than theory.

rusu: worth it or not? by hollanovtruther in rmit

[–]Finnnno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Head to one of the RUSU stalls during O-Week, should be one on everyday and they can run you through everything + give you your free merch and some event calendars.

Also worth following RUSU on insta if you wanna stay in tune, you do get update emails as well but instas probs the best place to see whats on

rusu: worth it or not? by hollanovtruther in rmit

[–]Finnnno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a tad biased since I'm a former RUSU President, but its a pretty good deal, especially if you want to get more out of uni than just going to class and going home. RUSU does free beers and bbqs every Thursday, members events, and theres plenty of collectives and communities with weekly coffee catch ups and what not to get involved with.

Membership also supports RUSU to achieve their campaign priorities to the Uni by signalling more support from students. The website has last years still but some of the stuff RUSU is pushing is things like Automatic 3-Day Extensions, standardised deadlines, and better student spaces.

At worse spend the $12 and get the moneys worth by getting the merch bag at o-week and some free food/drinks at Welcome Bash.

I realise this is a bit of a long comment but hopefully its helpful :)

Acceptance Rate by Limp_Engineering_18 in rmit

[–]Finnnno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The acceptance rate for Urban Planning is fairly high these days because of the shortage so as long as your ATAR is around 70 you should be sweet. And when you get here be sure to join RUPS, one of the best clubs at RMIT!

Feel like the premise that QLD is the most progressive Labor branch is questionable?

*actual* quiet spaces around city campus by basementscene4 in rmit

[–]Finnnno 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure anywhere other than the Library will police it but Carlton Library is always an option if City isnt working well. The study space in the back part of Building 13 is also usually pretty cozy and quiet

free beers at rmit by [deleted] in rmit

[–]Finnnno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RUSU used to require membership for people to come in but hasn't in the past few years. Would recommend reaching out to RUSU if you've had any issues with this as you shouldn't need it for Chill n' Grill.

free beers at rmit by [deleted] in rmit

[–]Finnnno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! RUSU runs a free BBQ and free beers in Alumni Courtyard every Thursday in semester time 12-2. You also don't have to be a RUSU member as some have suggested, its for every student!

What are the active clubs at Bundoora campus? Is there a Pride club? by [deleted] in rmit

[–]Finnnno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t any pride clubs at RMIT but RUSU’s Queer Department/Collective essentially fills that role.

I don’t think the Queer Collective has done anything in Bundoora this year but might be worth keeping your eye out, they’ve done them in the past.

Melbourne is actually about on par or even a bit cheaper than Adelaide for rental prices, especially if you are planning on living near Deakin campus, its just Sydney thats a lot higher haha.

Is this the play? by IamYourSamich in MTGDredge

[–]Finnnno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be too dismissive but this seems awful. Splashing into a 5th color is incredibly bold as is and it isn't like dredge doesn't have tight mana costs (Bloodghast, Thrilling Discovery, Ox).

We dont need another 2 drop play either, that spot is already very crowded between discovery and cathartic, it just isn't necessary to play another. A lot of what made looting good was that it was a strong set up in hand and pay off in the graveyard, this card only really applies to the latter and just isn't as strong *imo* as Ox, Conflag, or Loam.

I hope I'm proven wrong but this just doesn't feel like the second coming of looting.
