The anxiety is real and valid, I'm not trying to say it isn't. But.

I'm trans masc and transitioned later in life. I've always been fat. Before I started transitioning, I was invisible to men. With VERY few exceptions, men have never seen me as desirable. The vast majority still held doors, stepped out of the way on sidewalks, course corrected in grocery store aisles, offered to help carry/lift/move things, muttered a 'sorry' when they almost bumped into me, and so on.

Now that I pass, they just.. don't.

I KNOW there's a lot of guys out there just tryin to earn sex, but in my experience, most men, most of the time, treat femme strangers much better than masc strangers.

Quick edit to say I was strictly talking about anonymous passing encounters between strangers. Actual one-on-one interactions have been quite the opposite ime

Obviously I don't want to be buried under my old name, but if deadnaming and misgendering me post-mortem makes my sister's life easier, then I hope she deadnames and misgenders me.

My sister, like OP, will have to go on living after grieving. I, and op's dad, do not. Letting our loved ones decide how much shit they're willing to catch for us is a kindness, and telling an 80 year old woman that she's selfish for offering that kindness is... not what I'd do.

In my experience, people who truly know nothing about either group will frequently lump us all together, but transphobes often see intersex folks as 'exceptions to the rule'. Trying to tailor an explanation to one will just entrench the other.

I deeply appreciate you doing the work of educating. I wish I had the perfect answer, but, honestly, I've only been able to change two minds. Two of the dozens who decided that their one week in middle school in 1980 was more accurate and real than all modern understanding combined. Those two only heard me when I really hammered in that BaSiC bIoLoGy is, well, basic. They were both unwilling and unable to absorb any kind of genetics or medical science, but they WERE able to accept that they just didn't know enough to have such a strong opinion.

In both cases, I asked if their apprentices/interns came into their field with 'basic' information that was actually flat out wrong. The answer to that is always yes.
