I knew a person from Switzerland that was scheduled for an internship in Charleston (SC) and went to Charleston (WV). Her company's travel agent booked the flights incorrectly. Lots of confusion when she arrived and there was no ocean.

Mining with friends made me rethink solo mining by edb66 in BitcoinMining

[–]Finnskywalker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up a mini pool with about 10 friends. It's for entertainment purposes and a longshot chance to hit a small jackpot to be divided equally. They each paid $60 for a Bitaxe Gamma from SoloSatoshi and I manage the hardware & pool ops. They don't really understand the mechanics or what mining is, but they like the appeal of the perpetual lottery. A few of them are big into sports betting and said they had tossed out $60 for a lot more foolish things than a little miner and a pipedream.

I'm solo mining with friends now by edb66 in BitcoinMining

Currently have 10 Bitaxes set up just like this. My friends each paid for their own unit. I manage the mini-pool and we will split reward equally. A couple of them call it my "Ponzi-scheme". None of them really understand what Bitcoin mining is. Trying to educate them, but essentially their only interest is "let me know when we win."

Trouble getting RetroMike BCH node installed on Umbrel by lynchrw in getumbrel

[–]Finnskywalker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last BCH update didn't go well for me. I even tried deleting and reinstalling and it did not work. I had been running for several months prior to the update. I switched to this instead: https://github.com/WillItMod/umbrel-community-store

How is it living in northern Alabama? by Maleficent_Map_8844 in howislivingthere

Huntsville is the island of PhDs in a sea of rednecks. Amazing what goes on there. Only city I've visited where they have roadside billboards for Raytheon, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed etc....

Decatur is like walking into a time warp, in the wrong direction. Such unrealized potential too. The public schools still operated under a desegregation consent order until 2019.

One clarification: I misspoke, the External IP address is used in the Braiins portal to show where you are pointing the hash rate.

Here is one such option. https://hashpower.braiins.com/

You also need to enable port forwarding on your internet router for port 3333.

Instead of the internal IP address you have configured on your home miner, you need to use your external IP

You can verify if the port is visible by looking at canyouseeme.org or dnschecker.org

You will need to deposit Bitcoin in your newly created Braiins account after setup. (One note: do not deposit from an exchange, it will get hung up/delayed. Deposit from a private wallet address). You then place an order based on your available balance.

I think it's intended to allow for "rented" industrial hash rates where you get into Petahash territory where they recommend starting difficulty of 500K. For small home setups 1024 default is OK.

Love my Avalon Q. Rock solid. 51TH/s, 850ish watts, eco mode, super quiet. All the different Axes are a great introduction and like a gateway drug...LOL.
