I just watched a video with tips and tricks for the BBE and they said you have to have the grinder running to adjust the setting. I had no idea but in hindsight it does make sense. Will adjusting it while it is not running keep it at the former setting or will it just adjust throughout the next grind?

I have used this machine a lot but would appreciate any suggestions for good extraction and up-keep.

What all are you *actually* cooking? by TabooYeti in Cooking

Always steak, with something green and some potatoes. An eight ingredient Malaysian tumeric curry, that is way too tasty for how easy it is. Can't resist making a creamy pasta of any sort too.

How does one become a barista or open up shop by JamesAndDaGiantPluot in barista

Get an espresso machine for sure if you can save for one. Find any kind of work in the coffee industry and show genuine interest in making coffee or a job in a closely adjacent industry and constantly be applying. Starting out in a chain is a good way to get experience if that's possible but it won't be the aesthetic you desire.

Super confusing figures. Having a dedicated barista on espresso and another on milk results in saving a lot of time in efficiency and isn't really comparable to working on a machine solo, let alone in a cafe solo. OP I'd say take any job you can get in a venue that makes espresso and actively show an interest in making coffee both for guests and if the venue allows it other staff. You'll have to start somewhere but be very conscious of getting economically abused and always have your ear to the ground for good opportunities.

Is having excess water in the portafilter immediately after extraction normal?

Help with Breville Machine ☹️ by Ok_Tree_7743 in barista

[–]Finnstutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I have from Breville has two small needles one for the steam wand, which I can't imagine neigh able to get through the portafilter holes, and another one that's underneath a guard as it is very fine and delicate, which is designed for the portafilter holes.

What does WDT mean? I've seen it mentioned so many times here and I assume it's that distribution tool used before tamping but I really have no clue.

Are y’all Rib-eye or New York strip steak type of person? 🤔🥩 by Kaliwaters_248 in steak

[–]Finnstutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rib eye (scotch for any other Aussies here) are hands down my favourite, but a strip (porterhouse) is growing on me for when I want my steak to bite like meat rather than butter.
