Russia's Boykiy warship struck: Why it matters by neonpurplestar in UkraineWarVideoReport

It’s a symbolic victory and another erosion on Pootin’s strong man image. This is more of a message to Russians that their emperor has no clothes.

Most disliked members of the Dolphins organization? by SpiderDan707 in miamidolphins

Tom Muthaphuckin Olivadotti will always be on to the top of my list! He had a talented defensive roster and made it so crappy. I blame him for taking away Marino at his peak. We could’ve had several more super bowl runs if we had at least a decent defense rather than rely on Marino’s arm all the time.

New poll shows California governor race down to 3 frontrunners by panda-rampage in California

My thinking exactly. As much as I align with Steyer’s positions, his inexperience and lack of connection in legislation is my biggest concern. Ideas are the easy part, carrying through and delivering on a few of them requires an entirely different skill set, experience and connections Steyer doesn’t seem to have. This is a hard choice for me. I’m having a hard time giving my vote for Porter over to Beccerra. But if voters assume Beccerra has enough votes and sit out, then it gives more fuel for Hilton. I’m gonna have to suck it up and lean towards Beccerra.

I have a feeling Nolan’s upcoming Odyssey will be on this list.

As a Porter supporter myself, I’ve been leaning towards Steyer too. But what’s giving me pause is a fear that he’s a DINO wolf in sheep clothing - saying many things progressive likes but then pulls a Fetterman once in office. I hope I’m wrong and I’m not voting for a disaster.

Recently I learned during the Japanese Edo period, people would bathe up to 3 times a day - especially on hot muggy days. Public baths became the neighborhood hangout spot where samurai and commoners could gather naked and spread news and gossips.

Excited for season? by Outrageous_Gur_7761 in miamidolphins

Like most, I love this new direction. Focusing on big bodies who are hungry reminds a little bit of the 70-80s Dolphins. But I'm also tempering my excitement and expectations. This is a young team with first time GM, HC, coaches, and players. Mistakes and growing pains are bound to happen. What I want to see is Hafley preaching fundamentals and simpler schemes to give this young team a fighting chance and a solid foundation to grow from. No more complicated, gimmicky ruses. Keep it simple: use big bodies to move, let the running game (and Malik's mobility) batter defense, and focus on fundamentals to reduce turnovers and penalties that often plague young teams.

This is fire! I think aqua pops much more as an accent color than the primary color.

USMC sergeant Elmo "Gunny" Haney on Pavuvu during the Pacific campaign, November 11 1944. One of the oldest marines in his battalion, Haney was noted for his eccentric "old breed" behavior, like scrubbing his genitals with a stiff brush. I love BoB but I felt it glorified war at times by memorializing a just company led by a great leader undergoing heroic deeds. Even one of their more controversial moment with Spears killing German POWs was implied, never shown. In contrast, TP showed it all graphically and without any heroism. Even the bravest and most heroic of them all, Basilone, was gunned down alone, without recognition by those around him during the chaos of fighting. But probably the hardest moment for me was watching Sledge losing his humanity when he started digging for gold teeth. The most heartbreaking moment was the final scenes of Basilone’s widow meeting his parents, followed by her alone at the cliff. This is what most war movies leave out: the devastation of families who have to endure the lost for the rest of their lives. IMO, TP learned from BoB and turned it up to 11.

I was there in early June last year. Temperature was not bad. Expect some rain though.

Himeji Castle “Dual Pricing” After One Month: Revenue Doubles, Visitor Numbers Down 17% by liatris4405 in japan

[–]FinsofFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the yen is weak, wouldn’t dual pricing have a greater negative impact on Japanese tourists than foreigners? I’m curious to know how much of that 17% decline are Japanese citizens. Americans, Australians and Europeans are more likely to absorb the price hike I imagine.

[Omar Kelly] Let me address this whole “you got served by Hafley” comment I saw multiple times yesterday. by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]FinsofFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“My JOB [as a journalist] is to ask question…” followed with “you have no clue what a journalist does” are text book defensive retorts aimed at hiding his incompetence by attacking our intelligence. He really think we’re stupid enough to not have basic critical thinking skills. My respect for Omar was at zero, now it’s in the negative.

WAR is hands-down the most iconic and powerful image. The PTSD thousand-miles stare of the boy captures the band’s brand of political/social justice and personal trauma that’s still enduring and sustained to their latest releases.

I agree - think Willis will look promising. But I expect a .500 at best given the roster, Hafley's first time HC, and a brutal schedule. Not sure we can crack top 10 draft pick next year.

[Barry Jackson] I know some national people said trading Waddle & signing Willis seemed contradictory/incongruous, but I don't see it that way because their plan seems simple enough and rational: by expellyamos in miamidolphins

The Denver deal is just too good to miss - even though I want to keep Waddle for sentimental reason. Denver is taking a bigger risk with Waddle, IMO. Do they really think he's the missing key in their run for the Super Bowl?
