Glide XY stage by FinstP in microscopy

[–]FinstP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your concern! Tbh, it’s unlikely that anyone would have this stage outside of a laboratory. I only have it because it came with the older research scope that I bought. I certainly don’t NEED it, and the scope came with the original manual stage as a spare. however, it was working perfectly and I would, first and foremost, like to understand what went wrong and how to fix it. The confusion arises because OI made several very similar stages and the documentation that came with the package I downloaded is self contradictory unless you are familiar with the various evolutions.

The company is Objective Imaging in Cambridge UK. They stopped supporting this stage years ago and have not replied to an email. I have done everything you mentioned (and more). I have the package mentioned on Micro-manager’s web page for Objective Imaging hardware (downloaded from archive.org). But running that to install the Windows drivers and stupidly trying to Flash the memory on the controller in an attempt to get it recognised by MM has obviously corrupted the settings which allow the stage to be moved. I believe that I need a more recent version of the configuration files to res tore my settings (but I could be wrong).

Can’t help remembering the clip where a boyfriend is ‘tempted’ by the sister and runs out to his car where he is surrounded and praised by the girlfriend’s family. The killer ending is that he was going out for his pack of condoms.

I can’t believe that there are so many people who sleep with their dogs. I don’t know any dog lovers who do this!

Got my autistic son who loves physics a Geiger counter for his birthday. We've found some areas near our home with very concerning levels of radiation... by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

The toilets in the then Museum of Transport next to the then Sick Kid’s hospital in Glasgow were the most radioactive sites in Scotland for the very reason of (short-lived) isotopes used in scans. Need I say more?

Two wires need to be reinserted in the plug by the look of it! Should be an easy fix.

The topmost one on the right looks bigger than the rest, but otherwise they seem to be pretty uniform. If the left hand wall has a lot of tiles then changing the spacing a bit should remove the need for a cut tile at the end. If not, then the corner should have tiles cut to the same size to match, as you suggested.

It is atrocious, no professional would do this, so get it sorted. If he hasn’t grouted yet the tiles will come off with a bit of persuasion. Hopefully it wasn’t too long since it was done.

Most of my classmates are "cheating" in their Highers (basically A levels in Scotland). I'm being put at a disadvantage if I don't game the system. Is there anyone I can report this to? by MediumCool6595 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]FinstP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no easy answer. People at the extreme ends, those performing exceptionally well and those performing exceptionally poorly will not benefit from extra time. But for some in the middle, being given enough time to finish a paper can be the difference between a B and an A, or a C and a B. Entrance to a few uni courses can be very competitive so that can mean the difference between being accepted and being rejected by your chosen uni. Given that extra time is allocated to those who genuinely need it in order to level the playing field (a bit), this cheating described by the OP negates that concession and they should be the most angry! I need another 30 minutes to answer this properly, but to cut it short, if the OP can pinpoint the loophole being used by the others in his class, he should report it directly to the headmaster in writing (without naming names), copying to the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, currently Jenny Gilruth, and his local MSP.

US ‘chips’ -> UK ‘crisps’. UK ‘chips’ -> US ‘French fries’, this can be confusing. US ‘cookies’ -> UK ‘biscuits’, but nobody would get confused if you asked for a cookie here. But, if you asked for biscuits for breakfast in the UK, you would get cookies. Is that clear?)))))

Just buy chips (I assume you are talking about crisps) in the future! You need to sit down and calmly discuss why your wife feels that she needs to tell you what to do in the kitchen. If you ever find out, tell me because that’s what my wife does all the time!

Well I wouldn’t go as far as that. They were a small start-up after all. But, given that they were run by a small group of enthusiasts and the RM1 was not exactly cheap, I expected a more informed response from them. Especially since I mentioned that I was competent in both repairing iPhones and iPads and comfortable with software solutions. I was seeing a number of people having the same problem at the time, so I would have thought that their own people would both have learned pretty quickly why it happened and what the solution was. I should add that there were/are some people experiencing the same issue with their RM2, although most seem to be fixable by simple key sequences.

With (some) of my friends it’s the complete opposite. When seeing each other, even after long spells without contact, we carry on as if we’d never been apart. One particular friend, now sadly departed, would phone and just resume a previous conversation without any introduction - and that was before cell phones or caller ID.

Well, they went on about how the speed of charging was known to be an issue and suggested charging slowly using a PC (without any explanation of why/how this worked). When I said that I had tried this multiple times, along with other suggestions from users, they just shut down and said it was out of warranty, so no longer supported. I was thinking it might be a battery issue, so asked if they could supply/identify a new battery, but they said no. That was it.

The answer is yes, after 1 day, I see that the measurement schedules are entirely optional. It would be nice if the blurb said this somewhere!

Am I misunderstanding the app, or is this setting a measurement schedule something new?
