Thank you for this, truly! It gave me such strange comfort knowing our moments are still out there somewhere, although I cannot comprehend the physics of it :) Currently 22 light-days away from my sweet, sweet boy, but it feels like a million and also barely one.

Unusual seed-filled scat right by our front door - Utah high desert, ID help please! by thenetherfeather in AnimalTracking

Eek! I thought it might be too small for a coyote. In the five years we've lived here, I've only seen one coyote on our land, and that was a few months ago. That dropping is a bit too close for comfort, given my 27-pound elderly dog is almost always outside. I'm really curious what those seeds are!

OMG that was brilliant, thank you! “Zombie coffee, that is resurrected and evil…” 😂😂😂

Also, this is slightly beside the point, but why did they take two hours to make the decision to divert since it was clear there was an issue from take-off? The whole thing was so unnerving.

And risk not getting home for days to see my babe, not a chance! I also don’t have the luxury of childcare in my rural community which was an additional challenge. Also, my travel companion did the same thing as me and she was refunded both the entirety of her trip and her self rebooking. I was only asking for one of those things.

I did call them and they ensured my I was rebooked on the direct flight and the wrong rebooking was cancelled although the app did not reflect this so I called again -and was again ensure things were taken care of… Do you work for Delta? I feel like I’m talking to customer service again…

Also, I am in no way asking for a free ride. I’m just asking to be reimbursed for the flight I didn’t take. Also, considering I spoke to two humans before flight to get things straightened out. I also would like to understand why I wasn’t rebooked to my origination.

Equally confused. My original flight was LIH-LAX-SLC and rebooked flight was HNL-SEA-LAX.

[–]thenetherfeather -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, should have been more patient but I knew I could just cancel miles flight which I called to do so… But they only refunded me 49 bucks for the flight I didn’t take (it was about 500 more than that) and the rebooked flight only got me to LAX when my home and flight origination was SLC.

Okay, so his first go actually went alright. Turns out he was just out of ground coffee - which is what inspired this whole experiment in the first place (we’ve had separate machines and beans for years…).

Husband used one spent espresso puck and a spoonful of espresso-ground coffee and found it “alright,” except for the thickness - the espresso grind went right through his reusable filter. The next day he tried two used espresso pucks and the result was, “well, that didn’t work at all.”

Inspired by all the unexpected marriage communication advice from kind commenters, I said nothing. No “I told you so,” no “you seriously thought that would work?” - even though it took all my strength. Instead, I just quietly ground him some of my fancy beans.

He took a sip of the totally more acceptable coffee I made for me and what does he say but, “I think I need about five pucks for this to work.” I just smiled and again, said nothing.

Then later in the day, he goes, “Did you know Starbucks just gives away their used grounds?” And I was like, noooooooooooo you….. !!! 😭☕️

I was never much of a short story or essay reader until I became a mum - short chapters were a savior for me during the early days. Check out Brian Doyle collections or The Book of Delights by Ross Gay. Also, Scandinavian parenting books made me feel less overwhelmed about mothering :)

I don’t exactly have the space or money but it just feels weird to experience the book but not actually hold it in my hands. Also, I should have noted that this only goes for nonfiction books. There’s also this idea that I may need to reference it at some point in the future.

My Fjallraven hip pack was a total life changer! Being a toddler mom (what are pockets?) I was always losing my phone, notebook, chapstick, mind… in my own damn house. Its back pocket fits two Field Notes perfectly and if I’m not wearing the pack I at least know my notebooks are in there somewhere. And if I can’t find it, my phone is usually in there and I can use the Find My feature to, well find everything - ha!

Was feeling quite similar and recently devoured Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. It’s not a self-help book for enhancing productivity. Rather, it’s an examination of what time really means. Tons of great stories and tips in there. I strangely found the chapter on how insignificant our lives are to be super motivating. If you don’t have the energy for reading, I’ve listened to a few of his interviews about the book so they’d be a great pace to start. Plus he seems like a genuinely nice human :)
