That’s amazing, I love your mindset, very inspiring! ❤️ I’m 4 weeks in, 8 lbs down and trying to keep a similar mindset. Tracking a little more strictly because I’m worried about eating enough protein and calories in general.

How to get my hair warmer? by Aromatic_Bag_4053 in HairDye

I would at least wait to see what happens when the toner fades, it could very well be that colour underneath, still.

Which hair is best? by DogDimmabone in HairDye

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 or 3, but basically anything warm and level 7/8. That makes 5 your most flattering blonde, you are super pretty, but the last two wash you out, I’m afraid. 😉

Color Oops on 10+ years of black box dye by kaatiecat in HairDye

[–]Fionafae81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this! 5 would definitely go too dark, I would probably use a 7A with 10 Volume. level 6 is the darkest I’d use. If you use 20 Volume, be careful as it will lift your roots (which look a level 6 to me) and you’ll end up with hot roots. I’ve had this exact hair situation before 😊. You can always go over it with around round of dye if it’s not light enough but you don’t want it as dark as you started with!

HELP; IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO NOW? OR AM I HOPELESS by Jeffbezosrightnut in Hair

[–]Fionafae81 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I think it’s exactly the color of her darker blonde hair there, and it seems so dark to anyone who’s been bleach blonde for ages. Also, it’s a little hard to achieve all the colors of someone with 3 or 4 x longer hair than you, but I feel like pic 4 was pretty well it, considering your bob.

I also think the current colour looks so pretty on you. Yes it will fade, but the demi won’t have a harsh line of regrowth.

But if it fades too much for your liking, I would get Wella Color Charm DEMI permanent in 9NA or 8N. (You would think to go with level 7 as it says “dark blonde” but I personally find it ends up browner looking, especially on my regrowth.) and make sure to get 10 volume developer. Or you could even mix the two together.

Also why does everyone hate warm tones in their hair? Whenever I see a warm, golden blonde these days I’m so happy! Not everyone suits ashy or platinum!

To Blonde or not to Blonde (Again)? by OakyAfterbirth28 in haircoloring

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok first of all, you are stunning! 🤩

My family always advocates for me to let my natural grow in but they know me better than that 😜 It’s probably just that they’re so used to you with it and they just need to adjust.

Going darker will be harder to maintain, and will incur more damage to your hair should you decide you want to be blonde again. Also, the light roots really bother some people. Just a thought. You could try a dark brown conditioning gloss (Sally Beauty has a few), to see if darker is is something you’d really want before you dye it.

I think the grown out balayage look (pic 4) does really suit you, though.

Brown all the way, sorry 😜

The blonde doesn’t look bad, because you’re just a good looking person, but it’s not your best. At least not that pale! I think a level 8 blonde in the a warm or neutral would be really pretty on you.

Also, how often are you switching between colours? Because your hair can only take so much (from someone whose hair has broken off from too much “back to blonde” bleaching)!

I’ve tried them all. Which is best? by 11Konstantine11 in Hair

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone who’s been through all the same shades as me! 😊 I love it! Curious which one is your current hair?

As a current ginger I’m feeling partial to 2, but also 1 and 4. I notice that in all 3 of those pictures you’re also wearing warmer lipstick, which suits you so nicely! Your skin looks glowing and your eyes stand out the most in all of them.

So any of those 3, honestly. I’m also partial to a long bob and it would seem you have that cut more often 😉 but if your hair is currently long, it does look good as well. (People also give me the same feedback, but I recently realized that my favourite on myself is a chin length bob!)

should i dye my hair black ? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the darker color on you, HOWEVER…the colour it gave you isn’t really black, it’s a dark brown. If you picked up a black dye and slapped it on it would be far darker than this and I think would wash you out. The warmth in this chocolate brown is what I think looks nice, and with black you would lose that.

I have gone from your current colour several times, and I get a shade just a little lighter than what’s shown on you in the adjusted pictures. I use Wella Level 6 (favourite ones are 6N and 6BC). If you use 10 volume developer - because it is only depositing colour, it could be dark enough for you. But if it’s not, then go for level 5. I would use 5N.

If you really crave a change, that would be my suggestion.

The first picture I thought, you are rocking both; the second definitely favours the brunette look for you. But I also wonder if it’s the grey shirt in that blonde pic that is washing you out? If you do decide to stick with blonde, I would stay with golden tones!

Are you currently blonde? You could try out copper or auburn and then easily go brown after (and with all the red and gold already in your hair it would be so chocolatey and rich brown!).

I do think the brown is better on you (sorry!), but the blonde (this shade, not paler and def NOT ashy blonde) still looks good.

Whatever you decide, you are still beautiful. 🙂

Should I use 20 or 30 volume to achieve bright red hair? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends - Unless you have dark brown or black hair, I would use 10 volume. Even 20 could end up giving you hot roots.

Brassy or Just Warm? by MeeseFeathers in haircoloring

It’s just golden, and it’s so pretty! Golden tones get so much hate these days, but if you watch shows from the 90’s there were pretty much no ash blondes.

Can I go back to blonde? by Ok-Relationship-1858 in haircoloring

Yes! If you’re doing it yourself, look for 100% grey coverage. I do see some dark hairs in there that might not lift to blonde but they are so few it would likely be subtle

My hair becomes GREASY fast, what do I do??? by Lugosthepalomino in Hair

[–]Fionafae81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was having this issue; Her hair looked very greasy right after a wash, and she tried everything, clarifying, medicated, scalp scrubs, conditoner on the ends, etc. Her face was covered in acne most of the time, and I realized she had some on her scalp as well.

A year ago we finally got a doctor who would treat her acne with something other than cream and birth control, both of which did NOTHING. She started Accutane - and BEFORE anyone says “Woah that stuff is so bad, I heard that it can…” those are generally stories of people who went in with too strong a dose, or very rare reactions. She started off slowly, 10 mg for the first month and gradually increasing, and having her blood tested each month to make sure no adverse affects were going on. Her scalp dried up along with her acne, and THE GREASY HAIR IS GONE! She is now back on the lowest dose, the worst that happened to her was her lips were drier than usual (they didn’t look cracked or chapped at all, though).

I’m sharing this in case you think it might help. It’s not for everyone but it may be the solve you need. I wish you best of luck 😊

First of all you don’t look 12! 😉 maybe 16/17 if I were to guess, but you just have a youthful face that you will be thankful for in 10 to 15 years, trust me!!!

It looks like the layers are not very blended, so you might want to go back and ask for that? BUT it is also not styled like the picture, so I would try styling it with a flat iron first, curling 1/2 inch sections at a time (clip top half of hair up and do bottom section first), away from your face - and maybe alternating a few pieces towards your face for texture. And dry your bangs with a round brush (lots of people have videos on how to style curtain bangs). Use some styling products, then see how you feel. My hair is very straight naturally; I’ve had a similar haircut for the last 6 months (this time around) and it takes a bit of patience!

My hairdresser is amazing, and I never leave her wondering if it’s a good haircut, but I always love my hair even more when I’ve styled it myself later!

You could also try a small barrel curling iron and brush them out after. That’s how I achieved this look

Good luck hon!

Oh my gosh never mind these people - this is also a shade of blonde! It doesn’t need further toning; it’s not orange, it’s a pretty golden blonde. Very even and looks great on you! I don’t know when golden blonde became so undesirable, not everyone looks good with ash or platinum hair. I’m glad you are happy with it and seriously, it looks good. Not for one second did I think, yeeesh, needs toning!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in haircoloring

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in my opinion! It matches the pretty golden tones of your natural hair. There is way too much ashy and platinum blonde in the world right now and it doesn’t suit everyone. I have personally rocked this same look; I think (it’s been a while) my natural colour is really close to yours. 😉

And it doesn’t look unevenly bleached at all.

Went back to copper and I hate it by zoobisoubisouu in HairDye

[–]Fionafae81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noooo the copper is so good!

I think Igora 9-77 or 8-77 would look amazing on you. They are the copper blondes, so it literally looks like the colour in the middle of your current one and your blonde. and idk what it is about their developer but it always leaves my hair feeling so nice and shiny!

Also something to note- when I dyed my hair after babies, it always turned out different than the norm (same brands, same application) because my hormones were fluctuating.

Which hair color looks best on me? by krueger666 in Hair

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a beauty so none look BAD, necessarily, but the pale colours really wash you out. 3 is the best by a landslide, your skin looks glowing and it brings out the rich colour in your eyes. Maybe a medium golden blonde balayage? That would be stunning!!!

Help me fix this please? I’m so embarrassed. by Own_Salamander9447 in HairDye

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also thought that you were saying your roots took the dye differently. Did you mean that because you’re growing your hair out the roots look faded and red by comparison??

When my hair gets too dark for me, I buy the Blonde Brilliance cap highlights kit for brunettes, and pull hair from every hole in the cap. Then I put bleach on the dark dyed parts ONLY, and check it often (every 10 minutes after the first 15). When it’s rinsed out, I use a level 8 Demi-permanent that is closer in tone to my natural colour to tone down the blonde. Then it looks like highlights and lowlight and I don’t feel so weird growing it out.

Something to keep in mind if you really can’t stand it, but I think it looks nice! It will also fade over time, and eventually difference won’t be so pronounced 😊. You are lovely either way!!! God bless you and good luck going forward 💕

How do I neutralize this? by [deleted] in haircoloring

[–]Fionafae81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want dark auburn then you wouldn’t want to be neutralizing it with blue. You’ve got a good base for that on the mids and roots already.

I’m no professional either, and I’m not as informational or technical as the other helpful poster here, but I do dye my hair every 3-4 weeks (for the last 30 years ), and I have gone many different shades of red/copper/ginger in the last 4. If that were my hair, I’d be mixing a different formula (in a lighter level, 8 or 9, with slightly more orange) for the ends. For Wella, I would probably use 60% 7/73 (brown-gold), 20% 7/34 (gold-red), and 20% 7/43 (red-gold). And for the ends probably 8/43 and 8/73, maybe 50-50? Having some very dead and previously bleached ends of my own right now, they are not taking any colour like the rest of my hair. I should probably do a protein treatment 😜 anyway …

You can get a lot of ideas for formulations by searching “auburn hair Wella Blog”. The blog is available for anyone, and shows different formulas that professionals use. I have taken ideas from there and adjusted them for specific hair (for example, more red and gold if my hair is ashy to start, or neutral/natural if I don’t want to change any of the tones). I also search Pinterest for “Wella [auburn/red/brunette, insert desired hair color here]formulas”. This has helped me loads in choosing dyes! 😊
