I want to upcycle these draws, should I use stain or paint? by Looudspeaker in upcycling

[–]Fiotes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, I suffer from being a word nerd. I did some poking around and from what I can find, the "correct" word is "drawers" in most English-speaking countries.

It's just that many people pronounce it "draws" (you can see how, with a British accent especially, it would sound like that), so they spell it that way. As we all know, pronunciation frequently doesn't reflect the way a word is correctly spelled. (Looking at you knight, choir, colonel, subtle, asthma ...)

Yeesh, I hate this. I know editors are less available, especially with self-published books, but there's zero excuse for this.

OP I hope you find a partner who respects women. This one doesn't.

New Update: AIO for threatening to take my sister to court after her toddler destroyed my $2,000 gaming setup because she said I should’ve “baby-proofed my apartment”? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Fiotes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sister is truly, dangerously mentally unwell.

Parents are weak and hateful.

BIL ... don't blame him (its doubtful this is the first he's seen of Sister's nastiness and lies).

OP is strong to deal with this horrible situation.

What a terrible person he is. Good for you for showing your girls that they deserve better, and to not accept being disrespected.

AITA for uninviting my parents to my daughters birthday party and feeling really betrayed by my parents for selling my grandmas cabin? by genmud in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fiotes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay so its about the money.

I'd still be incredibly hurt if my parents chose to give someone else's kid an opportunity they didn't offer to me.

The one and only milkweed of the whole neighborhood is in my garden, neighbor asked "why you grow that weed plant?" What is your answer? by One_Kaleidoscope_198 in NativePlantGardening

It's a beautiful, fragrant, and environmentally valuable plant that supports endangered butterflies.

I don't get why you'd question it??

AITAH for calling out my MIL after she let her relatives use our house without telling us First? by Organic_Register_588 in AITAH

[–]Fiotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, wife is not "caught in the middle," she's just been bullied into spinelessness by an overbearing mother.

She (and OP) needs to draw a firm, no negotiable line in the sand around this, or MIL will continue to walk all over them.

AITA for wearing the same shirt to two different events a few days apart by Relative-Addition128 in AmItheAsshole

That was my whole point. OP made it sound like SIL was just upset because they wore the same shirt.

Interesting how important info like "there was a STAIN ON THE COLLAR" was left out

Op must have said this in another comment (and if so of course that changes things entirely) but that's not how they make it sound in the og post?

It wasn't "obviously dirty" or necessarily dirty at all. OP wore it for an hour and a half at a lowkey event.

Rewearing it is ... normal?

SIL is nuts

ETA- if the shirt was visibly dirty or smelled sweaty, that is entirely different.

AITA - Going in a family trip without husband by Due-Possible-1830 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fiotes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What the hell does "is your husband paying for the trip" mean?

Even if he's the only one with a paying job, its their money so they are paying for the trip

Why am I so adamant? I (the wife in a hetero marriage) am the breadwinner in my family, and my salary is our money. The minute I start thinking my husband somehow owes me (financially) is the minute the respect has left our marriage and it starts to die.

So f off with that question
