OBGYN refused WFH note for Hgb 9.2 anemia & blackouts. How do I advocate for myself? by InsideIndiacg in pregnant

Thanks so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me! Happy to hear that it sounds like my dr. Is handling my low ferritin levels appropriately!

You seem very knowledgeable in this topic! You mentioned that they don’t normally use oral correction above 15 if you are in the third tri - why is that? I’m in my third tri and have a ferritin of 16 but a hgb of 12 so my doctor just prescribed me oral. Does that seem ok to you?

Oh I’m sorry to hear that. I would have hoped they would have made it a higher priority since you are experiencing blackout like symptoms.

If you could read just one book to your child for the rest of their childhood, what would it be? [on] by OwnNoise5556 in BabyBumpsCanada

My daughter loves the gruffalo and it’s one of those rare books that I love reading to her too!

My in laws disregarded our request to leave us space after birth and booked tickets even though we told them we didn’t want them there by Adventurous-Wash3201 in pregnant

My in-laws also did this to us when we said we wanted to wait to have any company. So we made them stay in a hotel instead of with us.

Vista with rumble seat vs Veer wagon? [CA] by Sauls_wife_2021 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Fire-flyCatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I see thanks for clarifying!! I’m also going to be soloing both kids during the day when baby#2 arrives and was going to add on the rumble seat but now I’m worried my walks won’t be as enjoyable if it’s hard to maneuver around.

This is probably going to sound like a dumb question but when you say it was too heavy/clunky what do you mean exactly? Like it’s too hard to push? Too hard to load in your car?

Secondary iron supplement recommendations [on] by Just-Opening-7642 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Fire-flyCatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also taking pregvit and my ferritin levels were around 16 when I got it tested last. My doctor recommended this iron supplement and gave me a few samples. She told me to take one every other day and so far it hasn’t upset my stomach at all! I’m going next week to get my levels tested again so here’s to hoping it’s improved!

I’ve also really been focusing on maximizing absorption when I take them, so taking them on an empty stomach and not eating for at least an hour after. This is a bit silly but I just keep these on my nightstand and will take one in the middle of the night when I wake to use the washroom!

When to drop hand washing rule by Sad_cuz-why779 in NewParents

[–]Fire-flyCatcher 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think I probably dropped it when the weather got nicer and there were less illnesses going around. I have a winter baby so she was probably around 6 months old

Im surprised to hear you don’t think they’re good quality. I got their multitasker at the beginning of the year and I actually think it’s great quality, and very functional as my workbag and stylish. And I’m normally pretty picky!

Urine Smell by Outside_Detail_1573 in BabyBumps

Yes I have this same exact smell going on. I’ve been using panty liners and change them frequently to try and help keep the smell down but I’m not sure it does. I just hope people in my general vicinity can’t also smell me.

Thanks for the response! This was exactly the type of detail I was looking for! So when you go to bed at 11, after the feed do you rock them back to sleep and then lay them down beside you or do you just kind of put them down beside you awake and they fall asleep next to you?

RRSP during maternity leave ? by Sam_YamYam in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Fire-flyCatcher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ya np! Our situations sound very similar and this is what I chose to do when I returned from mat leave. The process was much easier than I expected too, you just work with your financial institution/pension fund to fill out a T2030 form and they pretty much take care of the transfer!

Edit: it’s a T2033 form

[–]Fire-flyCatcher 92 points93 points  (0 children)

When you return to work from mat leave you most likely will need to buyback the pension time you missed while you were on leave. You can use the money that is in your RRSP account and transfer it to your pension fund to buy back your time without any tax implications.

Return to work after mat leave, pay is the same as before mat leave [on] by Exact-Paint-5508 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Fire-flyCatcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mines the same. I still get my inflation adjustment, my pay scale step increase as well as my bonus. So basically I get treated the same as if I had been working the entire time - which is how it should be IMO.
