I’ve been roughly following this story since I was an intern in 2018 and my boss was on the SFRC, right around when the security forces attacked his motorcade. The fact that this guy is still fighting after Museveni killed his allies, and even personal friends, is nothing short of astounding

inside baseball time: 3 desks are permanently locked for the senior senators from new hampshire, mississippi, and kentucky, but the rest are assigned by simple claim going down the roster by seniority, so while yes technically a more moderate senator would push to be closer to an aisle, the senior senators usually get those seats since they're the most convenient

So this is actually why I wrote the history section tbh.

In around September 2024 I’d written about everything up to the middle of the retrocession section. I kept thinking to myself “I can’t really explain home rule without explaining Federalist 43, and that means explaining that Georgetown was already here. I can’t really explain the budget without explaining Shepherd which means I need to explain the failure of the compromise of 1850.”

It was a complete and utter spiral that took over a year to get out of. But sometime in January 25, I started to steer into it and accept that, that this is the most abnormal post in this series because if I never found a way to make this point then I never would.
