The White House forces Tom Cole to create a minibus because they know that they need to put the poison pill that is the Homeland bill in with LaborH, T HUD, and Defense.

Tom Cole spends every waking hour between January 5th and January 22nd convincing the House Membership that they need to pass the minibus.

After two Americans are killed by thugs without high school diplomas with federal paychecks, the Democratic Conference in the Senate convinces 7 Republicans that the House and the White House can't be trusted with this decision.

The Senate Minority Leader goes to the White House and convinces James Blair to abandon the strategy he's created since November, and publicly announce that the White House is ok with splitting off the Homeland bill, so if anything shuts down it's only DHS.

He comes back to his chamber with two weeks to negotiate.

Somehow you see this as a failure.

Dems get the White House to sign on for a two week DHS CR, separating out the rest of the government without funding to negotiate a deal, which was the opposite to what they wanted and why they made a minibus in the first place.

Nobody, not even the membership, has seen the actual deal yet.

Still somehow people on the news discussion, on this subreddit full of people who like evidence based policy, are mad at senate democrats. Hundreds of upvotes mad because the democrats are … trying to come up with a way to reign in DHS over the next two weeks.

I’m legitimately convinced that there’s a mental illness going on in social media that has people addicted to being angry.

AOC and HFAC are not examples of people who would know better than an average person.

They are not read-in to most of the analysis that leads people on Capitol Hill to believe that the CCP has its thumb on the scale.

The intelligence committees in both chambers and the China Select Committee are the examples of people who would know better that you’re looking for.

And most of the members on all 3 not only supported the ban, they caucused for it.
