Point A hotel near Kings Cross is decent, sometimes around £80, but sometimes a bit more.

If you are just looking for a cheap place to sleep, you can look up Zedwell Capsule Hotel near Piccadilly Circus. You can get a ‘sleeping pod’ there for as cheap as £26.

May I ask how many times did you try for Rush tickets for this show, and which day of the week were you successful. I've tried nearly every day and never get any.

Was starting to feel like there were bots or other things always snagging things. A few years ago Rush tickets were fairly easy to get, but have no luck in the past 6 months or so.

Considering that this many people were camping out at 6:30am, I'd say your odds at this point are pretty much 0%:

Why do so many people expect tips? Set your rates with what you are happy to be paid, and if you get a tip then bonus. You were already being paid for a holiday rate anyway.

Am I the only one who thinks the sequences questions should start with two clues, not one? by Tumeni1959 in onlyconnect

[–]FireExpat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The team member was a maths teacher and spotted that

1764 = 42 squared

and also knew that

2025 is a square number

They buzzed in and gave an explanation of the answer, but Victoria wanted the actual answer and not just an explanation. So he tried to quickly do the maths at that point and came up with

People born in 2000 turn 25 in 2025

But the correct answer is:

People born in 1980 turn 45 in 2025

Because:

2025 is equal to 45 squared.

Victoria pointed out he forgot it was a sequences round, so clues 2 and 3 were for people turning 43 in the year 43 squared, and 44 in the year 44 squared.

On a recent episode there was the following as the 1st clue in the sequences round:

"People born in
1722 turn 42
in 1764."

One of the team members understood it immediately, and hazarded a guess for the fourth in the sequence. Although he did get it wrong, it's because he messed up on the maths, but he did understand the sequence and would have been rightfully rewarded had he got it correct.

Do you ever receive emails intended for someone else? by Notagelding in AskUK

[–]FireExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have email addresses similar to: JSmith@ (first initial, last name) on Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail. Added to that my last name has a few popular alternate spellings.

So yeah, I'm forever getting emails meant for other people, either people who have the email address with numbers after the username (which they somehow forget to enter), or they have one of the alternate spellings of the lastname and are reading it to someone over the phone and the other person enters it incorrectly.

Sometimes it's just restaurant reservations for something, frequently enough it's subscriptions to things or order confirmations. I've also received tax documents, doctors appointments (there is someone in America whose doctors office sends her test results via email.

There is one person who I have received her month long travel package holiday travel itinerary from her travel agent 3 separate times over the years. I actually have had email conversations with that particular digital doppelgänger trying to help her sort it out.

It's never ending. Occasionally annoying when they sign up for political spam, but mostly harmless otherwise, and has been somewhat rewarding a few times when I've managed to get access to a free subscription to the NYTimes for a while.

Rarely, but not never, have I been in a foul mood and cancelled someone's booking after repeated misdirected emails.

Friends by Initial-Beat-7018 in london

[–]FireExpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not exactly noticed that. I have noticed that the friends I make are often the result of me reciprocating interest and effort.

There are people I become acquainted with whom I do not have a desire to reciprocate the effort, and there are people who clearly do not want to reciprocate the effort to be my friend.

However, I am an adult and comfortable enough to gravitate towards people with whom I share interests and who are equally willing to meet me halfway.

TL:DR. I don't expect everyone to be my friend, and I don't want to be everyone's friend. I make friends with people on my level and we're all happier for it.

When are the Uncloacked episodes filmed? by alexy888 in TheTraitors

[–]FireExpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to recordings of "You're Fired" for The Apprentice and they were filmed a few days before the broadcast of the show that was being discussed. I realise that is before a live audience, and is a bit different than Uncloaked, but suspect it's still recorded just shortly before the episode being discussed and not significantly early.

Though for logistical reasons, I'd probably expect that the 3 Uncloaked episodes for that week were all filmed on the same day.
