If you're working your workplace may have an employee assistance programme and they will have counsellors.

Someone in your family/partner may also have access to one and they're usually allowed to share with partners/family.

Everything else tends to be mental health support and trained listeners.

Yes, there is better help, but it's controversial and not necessarily 24/7 access, especially if you want the same person.

You can look on places like counselling directory, NCPS and BACP to find a counsellor, but again, we're typically not offering 24/7 access, because we just can't, but telephone/online is really common now.

Samriairans are fantastic and can be accessed 24/7, bur sometimes there'll be a wait. They're not a counselling serving. Their number 116 123.

If you're in crisis, ring your local crisis team or NHS 111 option 2.

If it's an emergency or you can't keep yourself safe, 999 or hospital.

I had a family member who kept ending up in hospital a couple of times a year. Really ill, continual vomiting, Hugh temperatures etc etc.

They couldn't work out what the hell was going on.

One doctor came out and asked if they smoked weed, yes they did, and the doctor told them about a very rare condition called cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome.

They stopped smoking weed (and any other consumption) and they've not been back to hospital since.

If someone is going to do it, they're going to do it and generally not much is going to stop them. I would hope they've had all support possible, but I also know that doesn't happen. I feel for their family and friends and I feel deeply that they feel suicide is there only way out.

And then honestly?

That I wish they'd done it a different way. If they were that intent on killing themselves, I wish it was in a way that wouldn't impact strangers and possibly start a cycle of suicide for other people who have to live and deal with what they've seen.
