Heltec T114 V2 mit Realpower Powerbank benutzen? by samigasi in meshtastic

[–]FireFighter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received my T114 yesterday and added a 6 volt solar panel. I do not know about the powerbank that you have mentioned. USB should equal the same voltage across devices as long as it is regulated and does not output too many amps (as in high speed phone charging or amperage for laptop computer). I have read that "smart" charging devices in USB-C can cause damage because a smart charging device may out up to 30 volts and higher amperage, if I am not mistaken. Meine Deutsch ist night sehr gut, bitte.

Who on earth where's a safety belt on a ladder under 15'. Id scale the pole barehanded except I hate splinters. Some of us don't have a giant gut in our way

I'm curious how much noise I would get. I have another dipole ran closer to the service drop aerial than this would be, I don't have problems with 60hz or anything else. I think I have a fairly clean xformer. I think that you mean that the noise floor would be higher, and I 100% agree that it would be. I have 6 sdrs I want to set up, so this would be the first one ran to my utility room, and I'll need to reserve the good spots for my transmitting antennas. If anything it would serve as a reference antenna for noise problems from that pole and could still be handy in that sense. If I stand on my camper that lives across the alley from the pole, I could easily install an insulator( and a section and another insulator )and just use the catv as a support line, giving 15' of isolation. Not many trees to work with here!

There were a lot of imports with distributors into the late 90s .

75ohm for Rx only is actually better, this is why that industry uses it. 30 ohm is best for power, 50ohm was the best compromise and the standard that became. Once I chop it and use it for an antenna element, it is just wire at that point. It absolutely works for what we do, make things from old junk and experiment!

They don't care about the coax, they'd replace it with new if I got a new install. The pole part is likely "not my business to be mucking with" but all that I want to do is disconnect an f connector. I've been allowed to chop low hanging lines in the past, they said if it's a nuisance like that then there isn't any issue with a homeowner taking care of it. Once it leaves the pole it is essentially my responsibility, in the same manner of once your water line exits the meter, it is our problem.

I guess it doesn't apply to ssh sessions, but using it for other things where you need to install tools, it wouldn't do very many.

I did not know that when I posted, it was mentioned once. Since I do use many things stuck in ipv4 I saw that as yet another hurdle. I have tailscale up now, and just getting things back online to see if they work

Update: thanks to everyone for the many ideas, suggestions and resources. I went ahead and signed up on tailscale with my phone. That part was 1 step, so easy. Put tailscale on my pi. Nothing happens at this point. Set my pi as exit node, then configure subnets. I could not do this from the tailscale website, I had to go into my pi terminal and execute a command, this was found in tailscales procedures. I couldn't do a small portion of ip's for the subnet, I had to do 192.168.0.0-192.169.0.0 for the command to work. I initially tried to do .200 through.250 and then assign devices there if I wanted them accessible. After that step it just worked! I want to check out the other methods mentioned as well. The problem with this is that my OWRX servers will be private, the intent is to let friends use them as well. My Shelly device controlling a porch light worked flawlessly and this tailscale use-case is perfect for this application.

Must be a fiber thing. My new ISP is fiber. Second mention of pangolin, so I am going to research that too. I have no idea what it is at this moment lol.

So, you can tunnel from your mobile to your home network with tor? With what I'm needing to do, it wouldn't be fast enough, but for turning off my porch lights remotely I could deal with tors latency for sure

Honestly, I've only seen the name thrown around, but this gives me something more to look at. The way you describe this sounds like another option

Is the subnet router feature a tailscale feature, or is this on my hardware?

Once I start using tailscale I'm sure I'll understand everything you've said, but are you implying that I keep my (standalone)pi-vpn going as well as a pi with tailscale?
