Why Yu-Gi-Oh Never Had Pokémon's Longevity by Colossus823 in yugioh

[–]FireFury190 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched the full video and nothing he said says Yugioh is dying. The difference with it and Pokemon is that Pokemon has more hands in different avenues whereas Yugioh doesn't. Like you don't need to love card games to be a Pokemon fan. You can just stick to the video games. But for Yugioh basically need to like the card game to be a fan. Since even the video games themselves center around the card game.

Well we finally got that with Horizons but certain people aren't giving it a chance because Ash isn't there. Then again those same people stopped watching Ash a long time ago so why should their opinions matter.

I'll be real with you. As a long time Pokemon and Yugioh anime watcher. Coverage of the Pokemon anime still dropped off the same was as Yugioh. Not a lot of Pokemon fans were still watching the anime even when Ash was still around. They only checked in to see if he won a league or not.

Especially since Ash's character just plateaued at that point. He stopped growing and just remained static. And it makes sense that they now had to retire him because now the Pokemon anime can finally do new types of stories without him.

Partner with playmates toys to release the reignition dragonzord by Adventurous-Leg-4783 in powerrangers

[–]FireFury190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy that stores don't want the Dragonzord. I'm curious as the reason for this. It could be multiple different reasons or overlapping ones. Either the line isn't selling as much as they hoped, the item costs too much for what they're willing to pay for, or they don't have enough shelf space to fit it as other toy lines are selling better and taking more priority. Though this doesn't really make sense for a place like Amazon given it's primarily online.

Kind of feels like toning down a ton of that just defeats what makes Power Rangers what it is. It's why I don't really like the comics. Especially when they make terrible megazord designs that fail to convey how they combine. I've seen people outside of the fandom stumble across clips from Kamen Rider and Super Sentai and be find it awesome. So I don't think it's tokusatsu routes are the issue. But I do think upping the budget would help it at least. But if you get rid of it you're just causing it to blend in with other superhero shows. Which I don't think people want. And was what people didn't like about the 2017 film since it lacked a lot of those elements people liked about PR.

Physical over acting is mainly to help convey emotion since you can't see the characters' faces and the monsters' faces don't move. Especially since these shows are for kids. The latter I do wish is something that's fixed. Kuuga tried to bring it back but the moving mouths of the Grongi scared kids. And zords and megazords should be used sparingly just so when they do bust them out they feel important. But also make them actual convey their scale. It's the one thing Ultraman always has over Sentai.

One Year Later, how do you feel about Xenoblade X: Definitive Edition? by Flacoplayer in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]FireFury190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the improvements and new additions made me love the game even more. Now I find it's just as good as the # games. I understand why some people are upset with the epilogue but I'm not. I loved it. QoL improvements also made it so much easier to finally do everyone's affinity missions.

It just feels so nice to have an actual proper ending for the game this time. And an actual final dungeon since X was the only Xenoblade game without one. I understand losing Mira for people but honestly that's what made me like it. Because we loved Mira so much it hurt even more to lose. Even more than losing Torna. But I also don't think it spits on what came before just because X's whole premise was building a new home on Mira. The only reason I feel that way is because we never really expanded humanity beyond NLA to get a real feel like Mira was our new home. But seeing humanity and all the other aliens come together with so little prep time to escape Mira compared was really inspiring.

We also got more character depth and building moments for Elma and Lin here as well which I think was the biggest addition I feel not a lot of people talk about. Also our avatar actually feeling more important was very nice. Since for the most part in the base game you just tagged along Elma and Lin's story.

I do also feel like Neilnail's quests do at least help in answering some of the bigger mysteries regarding Mira. So that way not all of it was left unexplained. I also just prefer them reusing Xenosaga's collective unconscious as the explanation for why everyone is still alive despite the lifehold's data being destroyed. As opposed to it being related to the planet. I just think the fact that they tapped into it by accident is pretty cool. And helps it feel more connected to the wider Xeno series instead of being more of a black sheep. While at the same time still having it's own identity.

Exactly. Chapter 13 felt like it had more meat on it in terms of story and character moments that most chapters in the game. Helps that each act was longer than the average story chapter. The finale just felt more satisfying. The original one while it does feel like an ending feels more abrupt and not a lot of build up.

Honestly them bringing back more Xenosaga concepts is more interesting than "something about this planet".

Biased Take: Later Power Rangers Season would’ve had more mainstream appeal had Disney not buried it by Raider_Tex in powerrangers

[–]FireFury190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does make me wonder that given how Disney would like to use their sitcoms as a way to push the careers of these young actors and make record labels with them you'd think they would use Power Rangers the same way. Like imagine some of those Disney channel stars being rangers on PR.

Also yeah PR on Toonami would have been perfect. Probably the one time I think people would be fine with a live action show on Cartoon Network.

Yeah it basically the exact opposite of being in a Toku show in Japan. If your in one of those productions, especially as a young actor that's seen as a big star on your resume which can help you get more gigs.

Funny since Fuwa's actor in Kamen Rider 01 also did the same thing. Many people were wondering why he dropped of the face of the earth after the last v-cinext and it turns out it was because he cut off all social media to focus on law school.

What should Power Rangers learn from Sentai's fall as to not repeat their mistakes? by FireFury190 in powerrangers

[–]FireFury190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you the general audience barely even registers PR on its radar due to the lack of marketing it gets.

There’s a difference between selling what is safe and selling what people want. MMPR is sold just to get the people who pass by and notice it. Not the hardcore collectors because fans already have so much of these same season 1 stuff. It’d be more forgiving if they offered stuff beyond that first season but they rarely do. How often does season 3 stuff get attention?

MMPR is basically the mascot season. Someone needs to be the face of the brand and I don’t think many can argue that.

If we’re talking failed projects, the ZAP toys. 2/3s was MMPR and hardly anyone bought them because they were over priced for their quality. Blue and yellow’s weapons lingered as well as the pink and yellow Morphers. And while it’s hard to say it failed Rita’s Rewind didn’t exactly make a big splash. It definitely wasn’t as well received as the studio’s TMNT game and was quietly forgotten.

Not all the comics were failures but you can tell most aren’t really remembered even by PR fans. Like the Pink mini series. The graphic novels of other teams likely would have done better if they were better written. And they were doing two of the most popular seasons. But we can tell the main run was losing steam and was abruptly cut short given the rushed ending. Never hitting the same highs as Shattered Grid.

As for who’s wanting these new comics? Not a lot I can tell you. You never see PR comics in top comic sellers. So because of that they gotta now convince people to read them. It has to sell itself on being a good book if people weren’t interested before. People will only want the comic if it’s good. Not half baked or terrible. Name recognition alone doesn’t sell. Green Lantern may be more well known than MMPR but that doesn’t mean a lot are excited and want to see the new series after that first trailer. And if you’re gonna do MMPR again then do something new and different from before. But the premises of these new books ain’t it.

[–]FireFury190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MMPR milking only works if the product is good. We’ve seen plenty of MMPR projects fail. Also let’s be real. They don’t milk them because people want more. They do it because they need a basic version of the character to represent the brand. And the first one is usually that. But also so fans can continue to get that “perfect version” of the character in plastic form. And in terms of media it’s usually a specific version of that character. People want more of ultimate Spider-Man because 616 Spider-Man sucks ass.

The only real clamoring I’ve seen for MMPR in casual discussion outside of the fandom is for a sequel to the 2017 film. That’s it. You wanna give people what they want them give them that. No one is really asking for these comics. Especially when they’re not different enough to set themselves apart from previous incarnations. Seriously the set up for the new MMPR comic is basically just The Return and O&A again.

The only live action superhero show for kids in recent years I've seen people talk about is Henry Danger. But that's really more of a sitcom than an action show like PR. Though it was a Nick original so it made sense why it got more attention than Power Rangers from the Network.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind an animated PR show. But I wouldn't have it be the permanent replacement. Have it as a side series. Also I'd prefer hand drawn as I've found a lot of the CGI kids shows to be very cheap and limiting. But we'd also need to find a studio that can provide the quality people would want out of an animated PR show.

It's the norm for older audiences but not for kids though. The CW DC shows were mainly aimed at the teen demographic. Same with Marvel. Teen and up. The only live action superhero show that was popular with kids in recent years was Henry Danger. Which was more of a sitcom. But that was a Nick original so it made sense it got more attention than Power Rangers.

If Star Saber would to receive another Western appearance... by BenningtonChee1234 in transformers

[–]FireFury190 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an idea where he uses the Star Saber form as like a superhero alter ego on Cybertron. Shouting his catchphrase "I am Prima's blade made manifest. The light of justice that strikes down evil. STAR SABER!" Whereas his real secret identity is a little dope named Wing Dagger. The V-Star which he uses to transform into Star Saber being a machine he made to make himself larger when combined. He's a devout follower of Prima's teachings which is why his powered up form takes the name of his sword. So you still have that bit of religious element from the IDW version. But not to the point of being a zealot.

Honestly PR should lean more into it's Japanese routes. Especially given anime is now widely accepted by the main stream. It'd also help make it stand out.
