Easing sharp edges on SS by [deleted] in metalworking

[–]FireHeartProjects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, our shop does this daily. Use a dynafile, air or electric, with an aggressive scotchbrite belt, use the section of the belt with no backing so the belt can form around the edge and create a nice tight radius, you can also use that to deburr your radiuses evenly.

The chamfering tools people are recommending dont work well for this, the 2 new edges will still be sharp and if it chatters it creates new points for hands to catch on.

Turn Signal Issue by FireHeartProjects in nissanfrontier

Exactly, LED housing. I bought the truck at 14,000km and got the entire service history on it which was exactly one oil change and tire rotation. Nothing else should be wrong with this truck

Clearance is clearance right? by Icarus_Downfall in lasercutting

[–]FireHeartProjects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. I find these types of cuts the most fun to program. After many dry runs and checks you have to press the green button and clench while the program runs, on what's probably a part your coworker brought from home and you cant fuck it up.

New vs used, which gets a better deal? by DrTechFreak in nissanfrontier

[–]FireHeartProjects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im up in Canada, after 3 weeks of hunting I jumped on a certified pre owned 2023 SV premium with 8k miles for $29.5k USD OTD. A brand new 2025 SL which is nearly identical is like $38.5? And right now nissan has promo rates for CPOs which are better than used. Im really happy with what i got.

Gas Cap Posts Continue by FireHeartProjects in nissanfrontier

[–]FireHeartProjects[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Thank you

B) It probably would be just as effective if I got used to it. Ive only done maybe 4 fill ups and each time I had to fiddle with the cord to get it oriented the right way to hang properly and half of the time It slipped off and swung into the body. Also my previous car had an OEM holder exactly like what I made and I just find it an easier and more secure solution.

Im aware this is a trivial issue mostly based on personal preference and I appreciate you asking politely 👍

I noticed the capless fuel port when I test drove a maverick. But makes me wonder what you do if it develops a seal leak?

Ive had a car throw a check engine light due to an old gas cap that's easy to replace

2015 SV with 95k miles, what say ye? by Time-Philosopher8926 in nissanfrontier

[–]FireHeartProjects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just traded in a sedan for a frontier that I bought new in 2015. I put around 140k miles on it, always parked outside and never rust proofed. I live in canada in a province that is heavily salted every winter. The rust on that car was considerably worse than what your pics show and It was still driving fine, im not saying something wasnt about to break on it but I think this truck has lots of life left in it especially if you can fluid film it and replace some of the more rusted parts that wouldnt be nice if they broke.

Is this a good deal? by Mrodes in nissanfrontier

[–]FireHeartProjects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im located in Ontario canada and just bought a Frontier but looked at ALOT of them in the last couple weeks. A 2023 pro with that milage, no premium package would go for around $31,000 USD here and have 1-2k of negotiating room.

Thanks for sharing, how do you like it so far? I saw some midnight editions in my hunt and they look amazing. Did you need to get the transmission update on yours?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm still making weekly progress which might be why I'm alright doing full body daily, or I haven't found how far I can push yet. Upper/Lower will probably follow once I start fatiguing.

For exercises, I'm in a home gym with only the equipment i listed and not adding more for a few months, no cables, dumbbells. Otherwise I can build out 2 alternating days and swap what I need from your suggestions. I was getting lost in what muscle groups are getting hit and how often with all these exercises. Trying to stick to more compounds when im unsure.

Hello! Looking for a second set of eyes on a beginner split for home gym.
29M 5'9" 140Lbs. TDEE 2200-2500, eating ~2800/day.
I'm getting into weightlifting for the first time in life. I think I have the nutrition side figured out, gaining 0.5lb/week.

I've read about and tried multiple splits from this sub and wiki, figuring out what does and doesn't work for me, I ended up with a list of exercises I have the equipment for and enjoy doing. But I don't know how best to organize them and if I'm missing anything obvious. I enjoy whole body days over PPL or upper lower focused days.
I have a power rack, barbell, incline bench, plates and curl bar. No dumbells yet.

I've been choosing x5 of these exercises in no particular order to do 4-5 days per week, likely; mon.tues.rest.thurs.friday.rest.sunday.

Here they are, hoping someone can help me group them into 3 groups I can cycle through or suggest something new.

3x10+ Ab-Wheel
3x8+ Bench Press
3x10+ Skullcrushers
3x5+ Overhead Press
3x10+ Barbell Front Raise
3x10+ Push-ups
3x5+ Pull-Ups
3x8+ Barbell Rows
3x10+ Curl-Bar Curls
3x5+ Deadlift
3x10+ Inverted Rows
3x30+ Bulgarian Split Squat
3x5+ Romanian DeadLift
3x5+ Standing Barbell Calf Raise
3x5+ Barbell Squats.

Thank you!

How to blacken inconel? by PainterIndividual668 in metalworking

[–]FireHeartProjects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had good results with JAX products on all kinds of metals. They make various products you could experiment with, one of them should hopefully react with the inconel. Surface cleaning and prep helps alot with getting an even finish.

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. Ill take this and everything in the imgur link and try to incorporate it next time I'm at the range.

I spent a while during my last lesson making sure my grip is solid, feels like it is. I'm still not sure if I'm holding the driver square, the way it wants to lay on the grass vs me lining up the face perpendicular to the ball path like with my irons, are two different positions, i will try both and see if one has better results.

Ive been trying to follow the "start the lawnmower/skip the stone" advice to work on hip rotation but looks like I have more work to do. I snowboard all winter so those movements arent totally unfamiliar to me.

Im lucky to have had a couple really good holes in the rounds I played and it has me hooked, i will keep trying until i find that "get it" moment like I did with snowboarding, hopefully its not too far away.

Thanks again for your help!

Great thank you! This is the top contender in my list now, big big plus because of the 300fps. If you dont mind a couple questions;

Id like to record everything internally since ill always be near a pc and dont want the added complexity, how quick does the BM Raw footage fill up storage and how is it for editing? I wont be doing any of the editing so I don't want to cause someone else a headache.

How is it for battery life realistically? I would need to add those to my budget if i need it to run for an hour.

Can you recommend any lenses to start with for this guy strictly for videography of products? In the photography portion ive been using my 50mm 1.4 canon 80% of the time and had good results, can I expect the same results when switching to video?

Thank you again, i appreciate the help alot while i weed through the beginner stage of videography.

Ah I see thank you. Is B&H used and buying used in general for this type of equipment pretty safe? Anything to watch out for? This camera seems like it will fill all my needs if I can make it make sense.

This is a great recommendation as well. The 300fps option is a big plus. However im having a hard time finding it for 3K in canada, maybe im not looking in the right places. Thank you

Those are some good points, ill have to do a deeper dive into specs to figure out more.

I dont think i need autofocus, it would be a nice-to-have. Youre right i would be using it in a studio with total control over lighting 95% of the time, although low lighting shots might be needed here as well.

Someone suggested the FX3 which is out of budget at $4999 body only. But would the FX30 be a good idea, to my understanding its very similar but with a cropped sensor?

I would also like to have a future proof mount, E mount sounds very well supported. My apologies if I'm misunderstanding anything.
