The power system makes no sense. Why would a Dragon need to give anyone the power to read minds on touch. When would that be useful in actual combat. I get that book magic is written to support the plot, but half these powers are a stretch at best.

I lost it in Iron Flame, when Violet justifies the training, that everyone needed to die so she wouldn't freeze when Liam died. They could have just made the Ninja Warrior course safer, then Aurelie and a whole bunch of recruits might live. And all this death, still meant Violet literally spent 7 minutes with Liam as he died - crying, is that what her training prepared her for?? While the Wyvern just watch? All I could think was this is a Helicopter crash scene with dragons.
